Job description

Objective of the Post

The heavy metals chemist is responsible for performing analyses entrusted to them with the utmost rigor and precision, in order to ensure the best quality of results for our clients.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Raise precise weights, following the preparation request made by the Responsible, according to the instructions given in the notebook.
  • Manage mineralization of samples: perform acid attacks using different methods.
  • Quantitatively transfer solutions
  • Raise a quantitative filtration on funnel or Buchner filter system.
  • Raise a peroxide fusion
  • Raise an iodometric titration, acid-base or complexometric titration using an analog burette.
  • Raise a gravimetric analysis after precipitation
  • Raise an electrolysis of solution
  • Raise an ion exchange column elution.
  • Perform daily tasks assigned by the Responsible, with rigor and precision.
  • Ensure priority order by consulting the 'target date' when selecting series, unless specified by the Responsible.
  • Do not perform titrations on sister series (cross and non-cross).
  • Complete traceability sheets with all required information.
  • Perform analyses using appropriate techniques, respecting the latest version of established methods.
  • Stay informed about changes and updates by participating in Service meetings or reading reports and displayed documents.
  • Maintain equipment tracking and proper use (calibration, maintenance/cleaning) and complete equipment files. Any defects must be immediately reported to the RQHSE and Responsible, and the equipment put out of service with adequate signage.
  • Ensure workspace organization and cleanliness.
  • Replace consumed solutions by returning empty bottles/bidons to the prep service (via designated containers) and replacing them with full ones. If necessary, prepare solutions yourself if they are within the chemist's responsibility, and track traceability in the relevant file.
  • Technically validate analysis results (critical thinking) and communicate them to the Admin Service.
  • Perform work in accordance with labor regulations and safety rules (PPE).
  • Participate in company objectives (quality policy) by striving for customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of laboratory analysis techniques
  • Understanding of chemical risks related to products and techniques used
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel)
