Childcare Supervisor Early Childhood Educator

DESCRIPTION: On behalf of our client, Devonshire Child Care Centre (DCCC), we are recruiting an experienced, committed, and community‑focused Program Supervisor to support the continued success of this respected not‑for‑profit childcare centre in Ottawa. DCCC is known for its strong reputation, warm environment, and deep commitment to high‑quality early learning and family partnership. This leadership role is central to the day‑to‑day functioning of the centre. The Program Supervisor works closely with the Executive Director and staff to ensure the delivery of high‑quality, play‑based early childhood programs that meet the needs of children, families, and the community. This role includes: * Providing leadership and mentorship to educators, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment. * Overseeing the implementation of the centre’s curriculum and ensuring its alignment with relevant pedagogical approaches and regulations. * Maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children. * Building and maintaining strong relationships with families, providing support and communication. * Managing the day‑to‑day operations of the centre, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation. * Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Supervise and mentor Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and Early Childhood Assistants (ECAs). * Oversee the implementation of the centre’s curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the principles of play-based learning and the Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) framework. * Conduct regular program evaluations and make recommendations for improvement. * Ensure the centre meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements, including those of the Ministry of Education. * Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, providing regular communication and support. * Manage staffing schedules and ensure adequate coverage. * Oversee the ordering and maintenance of program supplies and equipment. * Address any concerns or issues that arise in a timely and professional manner. * Support the Executive Director in the overall management of the centre. QUALIFICATIONS: * Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) designation in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators. * A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a licensed childcare setting, with demonstrated leadership experience. * Strong knowledge of early childhood development principles, play-based learning, and relevant pedagogical approaches (e.g., ELECT). * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. * Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with families and staff. * Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Child Care and Early Years Act. * Strong organizational and time‑management skills. * Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. * First Aid and CPR certification. ASSETS: * Experience with the Reggio Emilia or Montessori approach to early childhood education. * Experience working with children with diverse needs. * Bilingualism (English/French). SALARY RANGE: $58,000 - $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
