Job description
The Lytton First Nation (LFN) is recruiting a Child Welfare Advocate for Social Development. The Child Welfare Advocate reports to the Social Development Manager and will work with the Child Advocate Program to support LFN children and families involved in the Child Welfare System and Advance Jurisdiction in Child Welfare. The Child Welfare Advocate will help assist LFN members with family court, transportation to court, home visits, and help to find local caregivers and ensure to connect families with resources and services. The Child Welfare Advocate will also provide support and guidance to LFN members who are navigating the Child Welfare System, including providing information on their rights and responsibilities, and assisting with the development of a plan to ensure the safety and well-being of LFN children. The Child Welfare Advocate will work closely with the Child Advocate Program, the Social Development Manager, and other LFN staff to ensure that the needs of LFN children and families are being met. The Child Welfare Advocate will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions with LFN members, including case notes, reports, and other relevant documentation. The Child Welfare Advocate will be required to maintain confidentiality and adhere to the principles of the LFN Child Welfare Policy and Procedure.
