Chief Product Officer – Product, Growth Systems & AI (m/f/d)
Job description
Your Mission at ucm:
As Chief Product Officer, you will build ucm into an AI-first product and growth platform for flexible work. You will combine ucm Direct, Matching, Marketing Automation, and Operations into a scalable system that can also quickly integrate acquired staffing agencies. You will deliver yourself, and lead Product, Engineering, and Growth from a technical perspective.
You will identify the most valuable problems in operational business and develop solutions that prove themselves in real-world use and can then be scaled. You will be responsible for the entire process from problem selection through prototype and pilot to permanent implementation – and will bring together Product, Engineering, and Marketing for this purpose.
Product & Growth Systems: You will focus ucm on a few big bets – from ucm Direct and Matching to the joint platform for organic growth and Buy & Build – and turn self-service, campaign management, and operations into a repeatable acquisition-to-staffing machine
AI & Automation: You will automate standardized campaign, routing, and matching processes, measurably reduce manual effort and process costs, and embed an AI-first way of working throughout the entire product organization
Leadership & Scaling: You will technically lead Product, Engineering, and technologized Marketing, establish clear decision-making rights and common outcomes – and build a Workforce Operating System that integrates acquired companies within 100 days
You want more than a "job", you want to shape a company, build systems, and co-create entrepreneurially – including equity? Let's talk.
The Future of Work:
ucm is building the backbone of the student workforce of the future. Our mission: Better jobs for students. We combine human potential with AI-driven efficiency and connect thousands of talents with jobs of real impact.
We are an AI-First Company. We don't just use AI, we are rebuilding our entire core around it. Moving away from manual control. Towards systems that function and scale independently.
This also means: Things change rapidly. Processes are rethought. Decisions are made faster. You must be ready to adapt, rethink, and take responsibility, even when not everything is pre-defined. Our setup is clear: Field stands for implementation and performance on-site. Foundry for building technology, systems, and growth. Frame for structure, control, and scalability. You are not joining a finished system. You are building it and are responsible for making it work.
Your Responsibilities:
Product & Growth Systems
Development of a clear product thesis and focus on a maximum of three major bets – from ucm Direct and Matching to the joint platform for organic growth and Buy & Build
Building ucm Direct into a repeatable acquisition-to-staffing machine with a profitable self-service component for new SMB bookings
Hands-on Delivery: Discovery, prototyping, specification, experiments, and product delivery – you deliver yourself, rather than just delegating
Measurable improvement of key marketplace KPIs such as revenue, conversion, fill rate, margin, and speed
AI & Automation
Automation of standardizable campaign, routing, and matching processes with the goal of significantly reducing manual effort and process costs
Use of LLMs, coding and prototyping tools, as well as agentic automations as a standard way of working
Building a common product, data, and automation platform for organic growth and acquired companies
Buy & Build
Product and tech due diligence for specific acquisition targets, including synergy case
Development of a robust 100-day integration plan for data, CRM, matching, and operations
Integration of acquired staffing agencies onto the same platform with measurable revenue, margin, or efficiency synergies
Leadership & Organization
Technical leadership of Product, Engineering, and technologized Marketing with clear decision-making rights and common outcomes
Establishing structures where operational product decisions are made without the CEO
Close collaboration with management and operations so that product development and operational reality align
What You Bring:
Several years of experience with digital platform, marketplace, or vertical SaaS products and proven responsibility for measurable business and funnel results
Current hands-on experience in discovery, prototyping, specification, experiments, and product delivery
AI-first way of working with LLMs, coding and prototyping tools, as well as agentic automations
High data and technical competence: Product Analytics, SQL basics, APIs, data models, integrations, and architectural trade-offs
Experience with CRM, Marketing Automation, Attribution, and Self-Service funnels (e.g., HubSpot or comparable systems)
Experience in the technical leadership of Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Operations
Fluent German (C1/C2) and English (C1) – written and spoken
Strong bonus: Experience with product/tech due diligence, platform integration, or post-merger integration – classic M&A experience is not a requirement
Why ucm:
Exposure at eye level: You will work directly with management, be responsible for product and growth strategy, and sit at the table with management, investors, and shareholders
Career with perspective: Maximum freedom to shape things at C-level – you will build the platform, the team, and the organization with which ucm will scale
Competitive package: €120k base salary plus bonuses and equity
High-output, low-ego Culture: We are ambitious, focused, and foster performance
