Requisition Number: 49960 Job Location: Johannesburg, ZAF Work Type: Office Working Employment Type: Permanent Posting Start Date: 26/02/2026 Posting End Date: 12/03/2026 Job Summary As the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) for South Africa, you will hold a pivotal role in steering the bank's compliance, conduct, and financial crime risk strategies within the region. You will lead the CFCR (Compliance, Financial Crime & Conduct Risk) function, ensuring its alignment with the Enterprise Risk Management framework. This includes developing and implementing effective compliance programs to mitigate risks, conducting regular risk assessments, and providing guidance on regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization to ensure a cohesive approach to compliance, conduct, and financial crime risk management. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and implement effective compliance programs to mitigate risks, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements. • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential compliance issues and develop mitigation strategies. • Provide guidance on regulatory requirements to employees and business units, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. • Collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization to ensure a cohesive approach to compliance, conduct, and financial crime risk management. • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, industry associations, and other organizations. • Stay up-to-date with changing regulatory requirements and emerging risks, ensuring the bank's compliance programs remain effective and relevant. • Ensure the CFCR function is adequately resourced to meet its objectives, including developing and managing budgets and personnel plans. • Develop and implement training programs for employees on compliance-related topics, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their roles effectively. • Conduct regular monitoring and reporting of compliance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed. • Ensure the bank's compliance programs are integrated with its overall risk management framework, providing a comprehensive view of risks across the organization. • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, industry associations, and other organizations. Job Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or related field; • At least 8 years of experience in compliance, financial crime risk management, or a related field; • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and emerging risks in the banking sector; • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
