Chemistry Expert

1. Role Overview Mercor is collaborating with a leading AI research lab on a project to advance frontier chemistry problem-solving. We are looking for chemistry experts who hold a PhD or Master’s degree , or have experience participating in the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) . The goal of this project is to create novel, clear, and challenging Olympiad-style chemistry problems that cause the frontier AI models to fail (i.e. generate an incorrect response) and support the training of current and future AI models. 2. Responsibilities * Design and develop novel, clear, and challenging chemistry problems, including multiple-choice questions, structured problems, and open-ended synthesis problems. * Problems should cover a wide range of chemistry topics including but not limited to: * Physical Chemistry * Organic Chemistry * Inorganic Chemistry * Analytical Chemistry * Biochemistry * Evaluate and refine problems based on AI model performance, ensuring they effectively challenge the models. * Provide detailed solutions and explanations for each problem. * Collaborate with the AI research team to understand the AI models’ strengths and weaknesses. * Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in chemistry and AI. * Participate in discussions and brainstorming sessions with the team. 3. Qualifications * PhD or Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related field, or experience participating in the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). * Strong understanding of fundamental and advanced chemistry concepts. * Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. * Ability to create clear and concise questions. * Experience with chemistry problem-solving at the Olympiad level is highly desirable. * Strong communication and collaboration skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 4.
