Kieler Magazin Verlag is seeking for its joint Schleswig-Holstein editorial office of Kieler Nachrichten and Lübecker Nachrichten at the Kiel location, effective December 1, 2026, a
Head of Desk (m/f/d) as parental leave replacement.

As an editor, you are always close – to the events that move our region and to the people who live here. Whether it's about political decisions at the local level, economic developments, or cultural events, as an editor, you create access to relevant information and promote public discourse.

• You work at the digital desk and control the distribution of content from Kieler Nachrichten and Lübecker Nachrichten
• You coordinate the distribution of topics and ensure wider dissemination of content
• You review and evaluate the current news situation and decide which content is digitally relevant for Schleswig-Holstein
• You are in close contact with the locations and the topic editors and participate in conferences
• You support the editorial team in continuously improving the digital offering and help colleagues expand their digital expertise
• Informed by data, reach, and audience engagement, you optimize our content with a view to its visibility

• Completed journalistic traineeship and high journalistic expertise across departments
• Previous experience in a similar role rounds off your profile
• You recognize news and can reliably and quickly assess its news value, and you possess good general knowledge for contextualization
• You make sound decisions even under pressure and are willing to show high commitment in news situations
• Good self-organization characterizes you; you independently and quickly prioritize tasks
• You are a team player, collegial, and enjoy achieving goals together
• You communicate precisely across various channels and master the German language confidently in all its facets
• Willingness to work weekends and shifts
