Vishal’s Indian Restaurant in East Gosford is looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team. As one of the premier destinations for authentic Indian cuisine in the region, we pride ourselves on offering exceptional food that reflects the rich traditions and flavours of India.

The Role:

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Chef to contribute to the success of our kitchen operations. The position will work closely with the Owner and Manager, and the duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Menu planning as per customer demand and market requirements within the company budget in liaison with the management.
• Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic Indian dishes in accordance with our menu.
• Ensure all food is prepared to the highest quality standards in terms of taste, presentation, and consistency.
• Manage kitchen inventory, ensuring stock levels are maintained and ordered as necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, following all health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
• Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to kitchen policies and procedures.
• Contribute to the development of a positive and collaborative kitchen culture.
• Adherence and awareness of Australian food & safety health standards & codes of practice.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to hygiene and sanitation standards.

About the applicant:

• A genuine passion for cooking and creativity.
• Trade qualifications (i.e. Cert III or IV in Commercial Cookery).
• At least 3 years of experience as a Chef.
• Thorough understanding of food safety standards and HACCP.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to lead a team, encouraging and ensuring all team members are performing and working in a positive environment.

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: AUD 77,000 per year plus superannuation
