About the Role
Hellenic Club - Woden Bistro is seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. As a Chef, you will be responsible for creating, preparing, and presenting high-quality dishes while maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised kitchen environment. You will collaborate closely with the Head Chef and play a key role in mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook food to the highest standards of quality and presentation
- Create and develop new recipes and menu items in collaboration with the Head Chef
- Ensure dishes are prepared efficiently and meet food safety and hygiene standards
- Supervise kitchen operations and assist in training and mentoring junior staff
- Maintain inventory and order ingredients as required
- Manage food preparation and storage to minimise waste and ensure freshness
- Monitor kitchen cleanliness and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
- Ensure proper handling of allergens and dietary requirements
- Assist with menu planning and pricing, considering food costs and seasonality
- Stay up to date with industry trends and modern cooking techniques
About You
Essential:
- At least a Certificate IV in commercial cookery or equivalent
- AT least 2-3 years of proven experience as a Chef or in a similar role within a professional kitchen
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and food preparation

- Understanding of raw materials, quality control, and food production techniques
- Knowledge of food-related curriculum and training techniques
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to use common kitchen tools and commercial equipment
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Preferred:
- Familiarity with analytical food and menu preparation software
