Job description

The road transport is a pillar on which the military logistics rests. The profession of professional driver is rich in missions and requires skills to ensure the loading and transport of personnel and goods in complete safety. Professional truck drivers are responsible for transporting troops on board heavy trucks, super heavy trucks, and buses, as well as military authorities on board light and special vehicles, but also various materials, including sensitive or dangerous ones such as fuel or ammunition. They are trained for all types of transport, whether it is people, equipment, or hazardous materials.

A salary equal between man and woman at the same post and hierarchical level.

To become a truck driver, the training unfolds in several stages:

- Learning military basics for 6 weeks at the Centre de Préparation Opérationnelle du Combattant de l'armée de l'Air et de l'Espace (CPOCAAE) in Orange (Vaucluse).
- Specialized training in truck driving under the guidance of a monitor, a professional in transportation.
- Passing different driving permits necessary for your future activity as a truck driver.

You will follow a paid training:
The financial aspect often returns when it comes to starting a training. At the Air and Space Army, you are assimilated as a truck driver, even before obtaining your diploma. Once you enter training, you receive your salary as if you were already a professional driver.

Attached to your transportation unit within the Air and Space Army, your job as a truck driver includes the following missions:

- Driving and operating different heavy trucks, super heavy trucks, light and special vehicles;
- Ensuring the safety of transport for the convoy of passengers, whether it is troops or military authorities;
- Assuring the pickup, conditioning, and delivery of freight;
- Participating in the activities of your workshop and those of your unit.

Rattaché à votre unité de transport au sein de l'armée de l'Air et de l'Espace, votre métier de chauffeur routier comporte les missions suivantes :

- Conduire et exploiter différents véhicules poids lourd, super poids lourd, légers et spéciaux ;
- Garantir la sécurité du transport pour le convoi des passagers, qu'il s'agisse de troupes ou d'autorités militaires ;
- Assurer la prise en charge, le conditionnement et la livraison de fret ;
- Participer aux activités de votre atelier ainsi que celles de votre unité.
