Job description
GVB's vehicles require more than just good maintenance. Behind every bus, tram, metro, and ferry lies a complex chain of suppliers, maintenance contracts, spare parts, and new investments. As Category Manager Rolling Stock, you ensure that procurement aligns with this.
You will work in a technical field with specialized suppliers, vehicle manufacturers, and long-term contracts. The dependency on Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) makes this category particularly challenging.
You are joining at a time when the Procurement department is further developing. In addition to complex procurement issues, there is room to help shape how the department will professionalize in the coming years.
What you will do
You are responsible for procurement processes within the rolling stock category. You translate business needs into a suitable approach. You will work for the departments responsible for the maintenance of GVB's buses, trams, metros, and ferries, and the purchase of new rolling stock.
- You will manage complex (European) tenders and monitor the process, quality, and contract formation.
- You are the first point of contact for managers and budget holders on procurement issues and ongoing processes.
- You will develop category plans and align them with other categories within Procurement.
- You will advise on the best procurement strategy based on market and supplier analyses, and guide the business in the associated considerations.
- You will functionally manage the buyers within your category and monitor progress and priorities.
- As a member of the Procurement MT (Management Team), you will contribute to the further development and professionalization of the department.
What you bring
You are an experienced professional in the procurement domain who oversees complex procurement processes and takes control of them.
In this role:
- You will manage complex (European) tenders from preparation to contract formation.
- You will carefully weigh different interests and risks and arrive at substantiated choices for tenders and advisory questions.
- You can easily switch between multiple ongoing procurement processes and ad-hoc requests from the organization.
- You will provide direction to the buyers within your category, distribute the work, and monitor the progress of ongoing processes.
- You will write clear advice, reports, and tender documents for various target groups.
- You will look beyond the current procurement process and contribute to the further development of the category and the Procurement department.
- You will naturally incorporate safety into choices and contracts within procurement processes.
Furthermore, you bring:
- University-level work and thinking (Bachelor's or Master's), preferably in a business administration and/or technical field.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in a comparable role within a complex, preferably technical environment.
- Extensive experience with European tenders and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- A procurement qualification or equivalent is a plus.
- Experience within a (semi-)governmental organization is a plus.
What you can count on
You take good care of our travelers, so we take good care of you. At GVB, you will receive:
- A salary ranging from €5,351 to a maximum of €7,239 gross per month (scale 12) based on a 36-hour work week, depending on education and experience.
- A 13th month, 8% holiday pay, and a sustainable employability allowance of 1.5%.
- A well-arranged pension through ABP. GVB pays two-thirds of the premium.
- Free unlimited travel on GVB public transport and affordable travel for the whole family.
- An average of 21 days off per year (depending on your age), with the option to purchase additional days.
- Instead of Good Friday and May 1st, you choose 2 days off that suit you.
- A monthly contribution of €84.91 towards your health insurance premium.
- Hybrid working is possible, with a home working allowance and the necessary resources to work from home.
- Various training and career development opportunities.
Your team
You will work within the Procurement department and be part of the Management Team, along with the Head of Procurement and two other Category Managers. The team consists of buyers, senior buyers, supplier managers, and support roles. Everyone brings their own experience and actively helps each other move forward. There is a lot of collaboration, and you easily approach each other to discuss issues. The coming period will focus on the further development of the department, strengthening the team, and organizing the procurement process more efficiently.
