Will this be your new work environment?

A good calculation starts with understanding a project. What activities are needed, what risks are involved, and how do you translate a design into a realistic cost price? As a Calculator within civil engineering, you will have the space to delve into this and influence the final project result from the preparation phase.

You will be working at a large and versatile contractor with a strong position in construction and civil engineering. From Friesland, diverse projects in civil engineering (earthworks, road construction, and water management) are undertaken. The organization combines technical knowledge with a practical approach and works with project teams where calculation, work preparation, and execution are closely linked.

In your role, you will have a lot of contact with colleagues from different disciplines. You will discuss starting points with project management, coordinate activities with work planners, and consider feasibility on the construction site. As a result, you look beyond just the numbers. You contribute ideas about alternatives, risks, and smart ways to make a project technically and financially viable.

The projects offer sufficient variety to utilize your knowledge broadly. At the same time, the organization pays attention to development and further improvement of processes. You will be given the opportunity to take responsibility for your own calculations and to further develop yourself within civil engineering.

This is what you will do

As a Calculator, you will be involved in determining the cost price from the first project information. You will analyze drawings, specifications, and other contract documents and translate them into a clear and substantiated budget. You will consult with colleagues and suppliers and actively contribute ideas about the most suitable execution method.

In short:

  • You will analyze specifications, drawings, and other contract documents
  • You will create cost calculations for civil engineering projects
  • You will request prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
  • You will compare received offers and assess them for content and price
  • You will identify risks, deviations, and potential bottlenecks within the calculation
  • You will contribute ideas about alternative execution methods and cost-saving solutions
  • You will align calculations and starting points with project leaders and work planners
  • You will process quantities, rates, and other project data in the budget
  • You will make a substantiated contribution to tenders and pricing
  • You will contribute to a good handover of the calculation to the project team

This is who you are

  • You have completed an MBO (Secondary Vocational Education) or HBO (Higher Professional Education) degree in civil engineering or a comparable field
  • You have an interest in earthworks, road construction, water management, and civil engineering execution projects
  • You can translate technical information into quantities, costs, and a realistic budget
  • You work accurately and have a good sense for numbers
  • You are analytical and can connect different project data
  • You enjoy working independently and actively seek collaboration with colleagues
  • You communicate clearly with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal project teams
  • You have an eye for risks and enjoy contributing ideas about practical solutions
  • You want to further develop yourself within civil engineering and calculation

This is what you can expect from us

  • A salary that is (above) market-conform
  • 25 vacation days + ATV (Arbeidsduurverkorting - working time reduction) days in accordance with the company's collective labor agreement
  • A full-time employment contract with the potential possibility to also work part-time
  • Secondary benefits such as a company car, phone, and laptop, flexible working hours, and home working possibilities are negotiable
  • A temporary contract with us with the intention to subsequently convert it into a permanent contract directly with our client
  • Opportunities for further personal or technical development through additional courses or training
