Business Intelligence Developer (Power BI, Azure)

We currently have a vacancy for an Business Intelligence Developer (Power BI, Azure) fluent in English, to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based in Brussels, Belgium. The work will be carried out either on the company’s premises or on site at the customer premises. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated in the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client’s IT team on site.

Your tasks

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that support data-driven decision-making, with a strong focus on best practices in data visualization and user experience;
• Build and manage scalable data pipelines and queries to extract and transform data from Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Synapse Analytics, and Oracle databases into efficient and reusable reporting models;
• Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to define data requirements, model business logic, and ensure high-quality, validated data is presented in Power BI reports and dashboards;
• Implement and manage access control mechanisms for Power BI reports, including Row-Level Security (RLS) and workspace permissions, to ensure proper protection of sensitive but non-classified (SNC) data in compliance with data governance policies;
• Document end-to-end technical solutions, including data architecture, data flows, and security configurations, ensuring transparency, maintainability, and traceability of Business Intelligence assets.

Requirements

• University degree in IT or relevant discipline, combined with minimum 15 years of relevant working experience in IT;
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Azure ecosystem (Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse, PowerBI integration);
• Minimum 5 years experience with PowerBI (DAX, Power Query, Row-Level Security);
• Minimum 5 years experience in advanced SQL (complex querying, performance tuning);
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data modelling and data governance;
• Excellent knowledge of integrating Power BI with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), and Oracle database;
• Ability to implement and manage security features in Power BI such as Row-Level Security (RLS), workspace access, and data governance policies;
• Strong understanding of data modelling techniques, including star schema, normalization, and semantic layer design;
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize Power BI solutions, including performance tuning, data refresh scheduling, and error resolution;
• Familiarity with version control best practices;
• Strong documentation skills, including technical design specs, data lineage, and security configurations;
• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate certificate would be required.
• Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Enterprise Data Analyst Associate certifications would be considered an advantage.
• Excellent command of the English language and knowledge of the French language will be considered an advantage.
