Responsibilities

Your Tasks

Client Acquisition and Sales

  • Identification, approach, and acquisition of new clients – national and international – in close coordination with the firm's partners
  • Development and implementation of acquisition strategies for defined target industries (e.g., technology, pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering) and company types (e.g., SMEs, start-ups)
  • Setup and maintenance of a structured CRM system for systematic management of leads, contacts, and client relationships
  • Preparation and support of pitches, presentations, and offers for potential new clients
  • Active participation in trade fairs, specialist conferences, networking events, and industry events to represent the firm

Client Relationships and Key Account Management

  • Building and maintaining long-term and trusting relationships with existing clients
  • Identification and exploitation of cross-selling potentials
  • Regular contact maintenance with existing clients and coordination of feedback meetings to ensure high client satisfaction
  • Development of client-specific service offerings and support concepts in collaboration with specialist lawyers
  • Management of particularly important key clients in the sense of structured key account management

Strategic Market and Competition Analysis

  • Continuous monitoring and analysis of the market for patent and legal advisory services, as well as identification of growth areas
  • Analysis of the competitive situation and derivation of strategic recommendations for action for the partnership
  • Evaluation of new business areas, target groups, and geographical expansion opportunities
  • Preparation of market, trend, and potential analyses as a basis for decision-making for the partnership

Marketing and Communication

  • Development and implementation of a coherent marketing and communication strategy for the firm (online and offline)
  • Management, further development, and support of the firm's digital presence on the firm's homepage as well as on social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and other relevant platforms
  • Planning and organization of firm-owned events, client seminars, and webinars
  • Ensuring a consistent corporate identity across all office locations and communication channels
  • Collaboration with external agencies, service providers, and media partners

Strategy Development and Firm Management

  • Close collaboration with the firm's partners in the development and implementation of the growth strategy
  • Creation of business development plans with concrete goals, milestones, and KPIs
  • Regular reporting to the partnership on activities, progress, and results in business development
  • Budget planning and control for business development and marketing measures
  • Initiation and support of collaborations with associations, business organizations, and academic institutions
  • Development of a "Partner Track" for the firm's lawyers together with the HR department

Internal Coordination and Knowledge Management

  • Interface between the specialist departments (patent, legal department) and the firm's business development activities
  • Support in the preparation and submission of offers and tenders (RFPs/RfIs)
  • Setup and maintenance of a knowledge database on clients, industries, reference projects, and best practices
  • Involvement in the introduction and optimization of internal processes in client management and communication

Qualifications

Your Profile

  • Completed university degree (Business Administration, Communication or Marketing Sciences or similar) – your experience and demonstrable successes are decisive, not the specific degree
  • Several years of professional experience in business development, sales, marketing, or a comparable role – ideally in a law firm or patent law firm, a consulting firm, or in the professional services sector; knowledge in digital marketing and event organization is desirable
  • Demonstrable successes in client or new client acquisition, in building sustainable business relationships, and in key account management, combined with negotiation skills and a confident demeanor
  • Analytical competence for market, competition, and potential analyses, as well as experience with CRM systems, KPIs, and budget planning
  • Technical or scientific basic understanding for the target industries of technology, pharmaceuticals, and mechanical engineering is an advantage
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in German and English (further foreign languages are an advantage) as well as willingness to travel to our locations in Düsseldorf, Dresden, and Munich, as well as to clients, trade fairs, and industry events
  • Entrepreneurial thinking, initiative, a structured, results-oriented way of working, and the ability to combine strategic planning and operational implementation

Benefits

We Offer

  • A responsible key position in one of Germany's leading patent law firms
  • Direct exchange with the partnership and short decision-making processes
  • A professional, collegial environment with over 120 highly qualified employees
  • Attractive remuneration package
  • Flexible working time models and the possibility of mobile working
  • Central location in Berlin with modern office equipment
  • Training and development opportunities
