The Project

For a leading telecommunications company in Germany, we are implementing data and AI projects on Google Cloud. Several use cases are running in parallel – from discovery and business analysis, through PoCs and development, to live operation.

The processes we automate have often grown over years. Knowledge resides in individual minds, workflows are only partially documented, and business units work with self-developed Excel, Access, SharePoint, or other legacy solutions.

This is exactly where your role comes in.

Responsibilities

The Role

You understand what is really happening in the business unit – and prepare it in such a way that it becomes an actionable data or AI use case.

To do this, you work directly with case workers, project managers, and decision-makers. You find out what the actual problem is, what rules actually apply, and how a process works. You model workflows and decision logic and make them usable for our delivery team.

In doing so, you go beyond classic business analysis: you identify which data a process is based on, which objects and relationships exist, from which systems the data originates, and what happens to it in the individual processing steps.

You work closely with our Solution Architect and our Data, AI, and Software Engineers. You don't have to build a data pipeline or write production code. However, you should understand data flows and be able to assess what is technically feasible – and what that means for the business unit.

At the same time, you are a central point of contact for your use cases: you provide status updates, prepare decisions, manage expectations, and drive open issues forward.

Your Tasks

• Elicit requirements through workshops, interviews, and process observation – even if processes are currently poorly documented
• Analyze and model current-state processes as well as business rules and decision logic, especially with BPMN
• Identify and visualize data objects, relationships, source systems, and keys behind a process
• Understand data flows and recognize the impact of data quality and data availability on requirements
• Create process diagrams, business concepts, decision templates, and presentations
• Handle stakeholder communication and expectation management for your use cases
• Accompany business cases as well as AI, data protection, and data governance approvals at the client's site
• Develop business foundations for scoping, effort estimations, and proposals
• Track dependencies and open issues, identify and drive blockers
• Together with the team, examine how solutions can be scaled to other business units or countries

Today's Team

You will work in an interdisciplinary delivery team with Solution Architecture, Data Engineering, AI Engineering, and Backend and Frontend Development.

Qualifications

Must-haves

• Project experience in Business Analysis, Process Consulting, Requirements Engineering, Requirements Management, or a comparable environment
• Experience in modeling processes and decision logic, ideally with BPMN
• A good understanding of data models and data flows: You can identify and understand objects, relationships, sources, and keys, and grasp what happens to data in individual processing steps
• Basic understanding of AI and AI-supported automation, especially regarding data quality, result quality, and the limitations of non-deterministic systems
• Strong communication skills and ownership: You drive topics forward even without formal authority and can confidently engage different stakeholders
• Negotiation-level German and fluent English

Nice-to-have

• Experience with data, automation, or AI projects
• Experience with legacy or shadow IT solutions
• Experience in regulated or governance-intensive enterprise environments
• Agile delivery models such as Scrum or SAFe, as well as Azure DevOps or Jira
• Knowledge in telecommunications, infrastructure, contract management, or invoice processing
• Initial contact with Google Cloud or comparable data platforms

We are intentionally looking for someone at the Mid-Level. You don't have to bring everything from day one. Process and data understanding, technical interest, and the willingness to dive deeper are important.
