Business Analysis Practice Manager

Full Time 180000.00 - 180000.00

Job description

  • Permanent Role
  • South Auckland Office
  • Set BA standards, frameworks and assurance across a complex digital portfolio
We’re looking for an experienced Business Analysis Practice Lead to establish, lead and continuously improve the BA capability within a large, complex organisation.

This is a senior role combining practice leadership, portfolio assurance, capability development and hands-on business analysis. You’ll set the standards for what great BA's looks like while working closely with senior leaders and delivery teams to improve consistency, quality and delivery outcomes.

About the role
You’ll take ownership of the Business Analysis Practice, developing the frameworks, standards, tools and ways of working that support consistent, high-quality analysis across a broad portfolio of digital and technology initiatives.

Importantly, this isn’t a purely practice or governance-focused role. You’ll also remain hands-on, providing BA leadership and support across complex, high-profile or strategically important initiatives.

You’ll be responsible for:
  • Establishing and developing the Business Analysis Practice and Centre of Excellence.
  • Defining BA standards, frameworks, methodologies, templates, tools and playbooks.
  • Building consistency across requirements, discovery, process analysis and scope definition.
  • Establishing quality assurance and review practices across the delivery portfolio.
  • Coaching and mentoring Business Analysts and Senior Business Analysts.
  • Building a strong BA community that encourages collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Partnering with delivery, technology and business leaders to embed effective BA practices into delivery.
  • Providing assurance and advice around requirements quality, scope, process impacts and stakeholder alignment.
  • Turning lessons learnt into practical improvements across the BA practice.
  • Personally leading BA activities across selected complex or high-impact initiatives.
About You
You’ll be a highly experienced Business Analyst who has progressed beyond individual project delivery into practice leadership, capability uplift and assurance.

You’ll know what good business analysis looks like, but just as importantly, you’ll know how to embed it across different teams, projects and ways of working.

Ideally, you’ll bring:
  • 10+ years’ experience across Business Analysis, digital delivery or business transformation.
  • Proven experience establishing, leading or significantly uplifting a BA Practice, Community of Practice or Centre of Excellence.
  • Strong requirements management, business process modelling, facilitation and stakeholder management capability.
  • Experience providing BA assurance across project, programme or portfolio environments.
  • A strong track record coaching and mentoring Business Analysts and lifting capability.
  • Confidence working with senior executives, sponsors and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Experience across Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery environments.
  • The ability to balance strategic practice leadership with hands-on delivery.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence how teams work without creating unnecessary process or overhead.
Experience within a PMO, portfolio delivery function or complex enterprise environment would be advantageous, along with relevant Business Analysis or delivery certifications.

This is an opportunity to shape a BA practice rather than simply work within one by creating greater consistency, lifting capability and influencing delivery quality across a significant portfolio of technology and transformation work.

Applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand.
