Breeding Advisor Breeding Advisor – Dairy Genetics – Devon £40,000 Basic Commission Company vehicle Enhanced pension scheme The Job: We are seeking an enthusiastic Breeding Advisor to support dairy farmers across Devon in improving herd performance through effective breeding strategies. This role involves providing practical advice on genetics, assisting with herd planning, and guiding clients on the use of reproductive technologies. You will carry out regular farm visits and work closely with dairy farmers to develop and implement breeding plans that meet their specific needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of dairy genetics and be able to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner. Key responsibilities include: • Providing expert advice on breeding strategies to improve herd performance • Assisting dairy farmers with herd planning, including the development of breeding programs and selection of suitable bulls • Guiding clients on the use of reproductive technologies, such as AI and embryo transfer • Conducting regular farm visits to monitor progress and provide ongoing support • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with dairy farmers and other stakeholders The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant subject (e.g. animal science, genetics) and/or equivalent experience in the dairy industry. A strong understanding of dairy genetics and breeding principles is essential, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is also important.
