Job description
AsureQuality's Biosecurity team are looking for 3 people to help deliver services that protect New Zealand against exotic pests and disease incursions.
Dates of work:
5 January 2027 to the end of March 2027 (approximately 2-3 months, weather dependent).
Mandatory Induction:
Successful candidates must be available to attend a one-day induction, during the second week of November at a location be confirmed closer to time.
Meeting daily at our office or laboratory in Burnside.
These casual roles will involve varying hours. This means the hours could be anything from 0 to 40 hours per week. Can only be worked during daylight hours, as these roles involve working outdoors.
In this role you will…
- Deliver biosecurity surveillance & response field services for the National Invasive Ant Surveillance programme (NIAS).
- Work in a team of 2-4 to undertake site inspections, trapping/surveillance work, data recording and sample handling looking for exotic ants at high-risk sites such as seaports, airports & transitional facilities.
- Potentially help out other Biosecurity teams with Fruit Fly Surveillance.
- Respect mātauranga (understanding) Māori and local tikanga (culture) and encourage their practice in our roles
