What you will do

Will you also come to work as a security guard at Defense? Our Defense Monitoring and Security Organization (DBBO) is looking for a new colleague to strengthen the team in Patrol Area Apeldoorn, with Apeldoorn as its base.

Defense is in full swing and more than 75,000 military personnel, reservists, and civilian employees are committed to fulfilling primary task 1: protecting what is dear to us! Professional security of all Defense locations is part of this. This is the work of the approximately 2,500 DBBO employees, who work 24/7 together on the security of Defense TBBs, the Interests to be Protected, of people and materiel.

Working as a security guard at DBBO is important and responsible work. You will therefore be continuously trained by experienced instructors, including on the use of your means of force such as the service weapon, baton, and handcuffs.
You will receive an excellent salary including a supplement for irregular services. In addition to your salary, you will receive an Individual Choice Budget (IKB). This budget consists of a fixed percentage of your salary (16.33%) and offers you the opportunity to make choices that suit your personal wishes and life phase. For example, you can have the IKB paid out, use it for extra leave, or invest it in training.
What is also great is that you have a clear and stable five-week work schedule. You therefore know well in advance when you have to work. This helps in developing a good work-life balance. Does this appeal to you? Read on quickly! The DBBO ensures 24/7 monitoring and security of everything related to Defense within the Kingdom, from vast areas and important buildings to vehicles of inestimable value. At DBBO, you work with well-trained colleagues who all have one goal: to ensure that everything of Defense is well monitored and secured.

You will start working at the DBBO in Patrol Area Apeldoorn. You will do this in a civilian appointment, in other words, you are not a military person, but you still work at Defense and wear a uniform and carry a weapon in your work. You report to the Group Commander of your team and also work closely with the Watch Coordinator, your fellow security guards, and the dog handlers in the region.

Note: in connection with working hours and safe travel, we take into account a distance and travel time for commuting of no more than 60 minutes or 70 km during selection.

What will you do?
Areas, buildings, vehicles, materiel: everything of Defense must be monitored and secured. As a security guard at DBBO, you are the silent force at Defense locations. Together with your colleagues, you perform a combination of tasks. Think, for example, of access controls, observations, patrols, interventions, and first response. Your daily tasks include:
• Patrolling Defense locations;
• Observing for irregularities and monitoring camera footage;
• Identifying suspicious situations and acting effectively when necessary;
• Responding to alarm notifications, taking action with your means of force if the situation requires it;
• Performing access controls and ensuring that only authorized personnel gain access;
• Operating access systems;
• Providing support during incidents within the Defense components.

A good basic training and regular training and refresher courses are part of it. This is also necessary to perform this responsible work professionally and to be able to use the means of force effectively in the right way.

What we ask

Who are you?
To do this great job with pleasure and success, it is important that you possess the following qualities:
• Good social and communication skills (Dutch language in word and writing). You can express yourself clearly and listen well;
• You are mentally strong, you remain calm and maintain an overview, even in stressful situations;
• You are vigilant, strong in identifying and assessing situations, and react quickly. You also dare to take immediate action if necessary;
• You stand for your work and your profession, and your colleagues can count on you;

What else we offer

At Defense, as an employee, you have access to an individual choice budget (IKB) every month. This IKB is composed of your holiday pay and the year-end bonus. This means it amounts to 16.33% of your gross salary.
You can save the IKB, have it paid out, or spend it. The latter can be for example on mobility (bicycle or e-bike), IT resources (laptop, etc.), union contributions, or extra vacation days. The IKB makes a large part of your salary directly usable for what you truly find important.

You are willing to take the oath or affirmation for civilian employees of Defense. This can be based on all common religions or beliefs.

• We are deployable worldwide for peace and security. A diversity of ways of thinking, perspectives, and qualities contributes to achieving our mission: “Protecting what is dear to us.” For this, we are explicitly looking for new colleagues who contribute to diversity within Defense.
• Defense also strives to employ individuals who fall under the target group of the Job Placement Act. If you are registered in the target group register, we invite you to apply!
• Your application documents will be destroyed no later than three months after the completion of the selection procedure. This period is longer than the standard period prescribed by the General Data Protection Regulation. This longer period is necessary in case an objection and/or appeal procedure is initiated by an internal candidate.

This vacancy is not open for acquisition.
