Job Description

Will you also work as a security guard for Defense? Our Defense Surveillance and Security Organization (DBBO) is looking for a new colleague to strengthen the team in Patrol Area Schaarsbergen Harskamp, with Schaarsbergen as the primary location.

Defense is in full motion and over 75,000 military personnel, reservists, and civilian employees are committed to fulfilling core task 1: protecting what is dear to us! Professional security of all Defense locations is part of this. This is the work of the approximately 2,500 DBBO employees, who work 24/7 together on the security of Defense TBBs, the Interests to be Protected, of people and equipment.

Working as a security guard at DBBO is important and responsible work. You will therefore be continuously trained by experienced instructors, including on the use of your means of force such as the service weapon, baton, and handcuffs.
You will receive an excellent salary, including a supplement for irregular shifts. In addition to your salary, you will receive an Individual Choice Budget (IKB). This budget consists of a fixed percentage of your salary (16.33%) and offers you the opportunity to make choices that suit your personal wishes and life phase. For example, you can have the IKB paid out, use it for extra leave, or invest it in training.

Where will you work?
The DBBO provides 24/7 surveillance and security of everything related to Defense within the Kingdom, from extensive grounds and important buildings to invaluable vehicles. At DBBO, you will work with well-trained colleagues who all have one goal: to ensure that everything belonging to Defense is properly monitored and secured.

You will start working at the DBBO in Patrol Area Schaarsbergen Harskamp. You will do this in a civilian appointment, in other words, you are not a soldier, but you still work for Defense and wear a uniform and carry a weapon in your work. You will report to the Team Leader of your team and also work closely with the Watch Coordinator, your fellow security guards, and the dog handlers in the region.

Please note: due to the working hours and the ability to travel safely, we consider a maximum commuting distance and travel time of 60 minutes or 70 km during selection.

What will you do?
Grounds, buildings, vehicles, equipment: everything belonging to Defense must be monitored and secured. As a security guard at DBBO, you are the silent force at Defense locations. Together with your colleagues, you will perform a combination of tasks. Think, for example, of access control, observations, patrols, interventions, and first response. Your daily tasks include:
• Patrolling Defense locations;
• Observing for irregularities and monitoring camera footage;
• Identifying suspicious situations and acting effectively when necessary;
• Responding to alarm notifications, taking action with your means of force if the situation requires it;
• Performing access control and ensuring that only authorized personnel gain access;
• Operating access systems;
• Providing support during incidents within the Defense units.

A good basic training and regular refresher courses are included. This is also necessary to perform this responsible work professionally and to be able to use the means of force effectively in the right way.

Other Employment Conditions

As an employee of Defense, you will have access to an individual choice budget (IKB) each month. This IKB is composed of your holiday pay and year-end bonus. This makes it 16.33% of your gross salary.

For the first few weeks, you will participate in continuous service unarmed. Before you participate armed, new DBBO employees first complete our internal training (INI). This lasts approximately 20 weeks, of which 5 weeks are spent at a training location. There, you will receive, among other things, an Integrated Skills Training and learn to professionally handle means of force such as a service weapon (pistol), baton, and handcuffs. This way, we ensure that you can start working with confidence as our colleague. A security clearance and possibly a reference check are part of the selection procedure. The security clearance is a background check by the Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD) on matters such as criminal records and financial matters. This takes an average of 8 weeks. Before you can start, a stability assessment will also take place, assessing your stress resistance and psychological resilience. It is important that you have Dutch nationality. You are willing to take the oath or affirmation for civilian employees of Defense. This can be based on all common religions or beliefs.
