As the Forest Operations Manager, you will assume professional, personnel, organizational, and financial responsibility for our forestry operations and actively shape its future.

The position is to be filled starting February 1, 2027, or by agreement.

Forest Operations Manager 100%

These are your responsibilities:

• You will manage the forestry operations with up to six employees, trainees, and the wildlife officer/hunting supervisor professionally, in terms of personnel, organization, and finances.
• You will plan and manage the sustainable forestry operations and ensure the implementation of strategic foundations such as WEP, BEP, and the material strategy.
• You will perform the sovereign tasks as the responsible district forester in the Riehen-Bettingen-Kleinbasel forestry district.
• You will represent the specialist area towards the public, authorities, politics, and media, and advise the municipal council, the citizens' council, and other political bodies on forestry issues.
• You will be responsible for occupational safety and health protection in the forestry sector and ensure safe and professional operations.
• You will lead and support interdepartmental projects, develop strategic and conceptual foundations, and be responsible for political proposals and complex forestry operational matters.

What you bring to the table:

• You have a higher forestry education, for example, as a Forest Manager HF, Forest Engineer FH/ETH, or Environmental Scientist with a Master's degree in the field of forest.
• You have several years of practical professional experience in Switzerland, ideally already in a public law environment.
• You have experience in managing employees as well as in budget and resource responsibility.
• You have sound specialist knowledge in the forestry sector and good user knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems.
• You communicate confidently and appropriately for the target audience, think strategically and holistically, and convince through negotiation skills and assertiveness.
• You are a socially competent, team-oriented, and goal-driven personality with a desire to shape things and enjoy taking responsibility.
