Operations and Shift Planner (m/w/d)

The Network + Shift Planning FlixTrain team is responsible for planning and controlling the FlixTrain offer. This includes creating train, round-trip, and service schedules as well as shift planning for the personnel under compliance with legal and operational requirements. The goal is an efficient, stable, and cost-effective railway operation.

Impact on the Organization:Through reliable and forward-looking planning, the team makes a significant contribution to the company's stability, cost efficiency, and quality of the FlixTrain offer, thereby supporting passenger and employee satisfaction.

Tools, Platforms or Processes:Specialized railway and planning systems such as TPN, FBS, and other tools like IVU or WILSON are used, supplemented by MS Office. Central processes include train and shift planning, route orders, and coordination with infrastructure and service partners.

About the Role

• Responsibility for annual planning of the FlixTrain offer including train, round-trip, and service schedules
• Main focus on shift planning for personnel for regular and special schedules under compliance with legal and operational requirements
• Independent creation and adaptation of short-term and long-term train schedules
• Coordination and ordering of service facilities and station stops in coordination with internal and external partners
• Tight cooperation with railway companies, maintenance services, and production planning
• Responsibility for ordering, changing, and canceling routes in collaboration with infrastructure operators
• Analysis of ongoing operations to ensure stability and derive optimization measures

About You:

• Degree or training in the field of traffic/transportation or logistics
• First experiences in service planning and/or operational planning in rail passenger or goods transport
• Safe handling of MS Office, ideally with knowledge of TPN, FBS, IVU, WILSON, or comparable planning software
• Technical understanding, entrepreneurial thinking, and the motivation to take on new tasks
• Team-oriented, communication-strong working style in a dynamic environment
• High sense of responsibility and hands-on mentality
• Fluent German skills; additional foreign languages are an asset
