Job description
Your Role
Medium-sized consulting firms have been acquiring clients through referrals for decades. This works – until you start at a new location where nobody knows you. Then you need a second way for people to find us before someone recommends us.
Vogel is one of the most successful medium-sized consulting firms in Germany – several thousand medium-sized companies entrust us with their tax, commercial, and strategic matters. On this basis, we are building the leading consulting platform for the German Mittelstand: we are growing organically and through acquisitions, consolidating a fragmented market, and integrating each new unit into a common setup. We are establishing new locations and entering new consulting fields. This role builds the demand channel that supports both.
You have completed your studies and think in terms of channels, funnels, and numbers. You don't want to join an agency where you manage other people's budgets, nor a corporate marketing department where there are six weeks of coordination between your idea and its implementation. You want to build a channel from scratch and see from the numbers if it's working. At Vogel, you get a product with real substance – and a market where almost no one does good demand marketing.
Your Responsibility
Demand Channels and Paid Reach
Build and be responsible for our paid channels – LinkedIn, Google, and potentially others – from target group definition and ads to evaluation.
Decide on budget allocation based on results, not habit. Your benchmark: every euro spent must make a demonstrable contribution to the pipeline.
Build target groups for two different audiences: medium-sized business owners and future colleagues. Both growth fronts operate through the same channels.
Website, Search Engines, and Funnels
Be responsible for the search engine visibility of our topics – structure, content, technical foundations, linking.
Build landing pages and sign-up flows and systematically improve them. A funnel that isn't tested is just a guess.
Ensure that every incoming contact lands cleanly in our pipeline and the right person sees it within a day.
Measurement and Control
Set up the measurement that allows us to know what's working: attributing contacts to sources, cost per contact, development along the funnel.
Be responsible for demand reporting and derive recommendations from it, not just numbers. Reliable decisions cannot be made on unreliable data.
Object if a channel isn't performing, even if it's popular internally. We are hierarchical in decision-making but flat in communication – objection is part of that.
Your Perspectives
What you will have delivered after 6 months:
You will have productively developed at least three paid channels and provided initial robust results.
You will have set up and automated the attribution of contacts to sources, so we know exactly where inquiries come from.
You will have built and tested at least ten landing pages.
What you will have delivered after 12 months:
You will have brought five channels to the point where they reliably deliver qualified leads, and can quantify the cost per contact.
You will have measurably improved our search engine visibility for at least ten topic areas.
You will have discontinued a channel that didn't perform, with justification.
What you will have delivered after 24 months:
You will be responsible for our entire demand marketing and budget allocation within it.
You will have mentored interns or entry-level professionals and passed on your stack.
You will be a candidate for the next managerial position in Growth Marketing.
Where the role is evolving:
The next step is a managerial role in Growth Marketing. This requires an independently built channel with a demonstrable contribution to the pipeline, not additional years of experience. Both technical expert and leadership career paths are open.
What you bring
Experience & Track Record
You have completed a degree – Economics, Marketing, Media, Business Informatics, or a comparable field.
You have already run and evaluated campaigns yourself – in an internship, an agency, a working student role, or for your own project.
You have built a channel from scratch before. It also counts if it was your own and nobody paid for it.
Profiles that do not fit the above description but possess funnel thinking and numerical substance are explicitly welcome – we evaluate based on contribution, not labels. Specifically: people who have built and marketed their own online shop or digital offering; graduates from natural sciences with extensive evaluation experience and marketing interest; self-taught individuals with demonstrable campaign results without relevant studies. The stated range refers to the primary profile. Those with a different background will start at a different market price and converge to the role's level after twelve months of proven performance – the logic behind this is in our compensation principles.
Skills & Work Style
You are proficient in at least one advertising system and understand bidding logic, target groups, and evaluation.
You master data analytics beyond pivot tables and set up measurement yourself, instead of waiting for someone to deliver it.
You work with AI as a matter-of-fact tool – ad variations, target group research, analysis, content for landing pages.
You write ad copy that works and recognize the difference between a good and a merely pleasing formulation.
Mindset & Personality
You can tolerate most of your attempts not working out and draw a consequence from each one.
You have respect for entrepreneurship. At the other end of your campaign sits an owner with personal risk, not a click target.
You say it yourself when a channel isn't performing – even if you built it.
You aim to set the highest standard in everything you deliver – not because someone is checking, but because mediocrity personally bothers you.
What you won't find with us
No agency setup where you manage other people's budgets. You are responsible for our own budget and the results from it.
No meeting marketing. Your results are running channels and demonstrable figures – not coordination documents.
No pure reach-thinking. Visibility without a contribution to the pipeline doesn't count as a result for us.
No corporate straitjacket where you wait for promotions. Growth here arises from contribution, not years of service.
No setup with ready-made measurement and channels. You build the foundation yourself before optimizing it.
FAQ
1. What is Vogel – and where do you work?
Vogel is one of Germany's leading consultancies for medium-sized businesses – a family business since 1959, from Aalen – and is building the leading consulting platform for the Mittelstand. We are growing at several locations: in Aalen/Ostwürttemberg as our established headquarters and in Munich as a new hub. At both locations, we are hiring across functions – from tax consulting and advisory to the strategic teams building the platform.
2. How should the salary bands be understood?
Intentionally broad – and stated at every point. We differentiate based on track record and market value, not degree: scarce, highly sought-after profiles at the upper end, less scarce ones at the lower end. We calibrate exclusively on the market – two people with similar experience can earn differently with us.
3. How much – and how – do you work at Vogel?
We measure by what you achieve, not by hours. But it's also true: if you're looking for 9-to-5, you're not our first choice. We are looking for people who work intensely out of their own drive, because the tasks are worthwhile. How you manage your time is largely up to you. What we share: we work together in person – culture, sparring, and the best ideas emerge from daily proximity. We are not a remote company and have no extensive home office policies; individual remote days are not a problem.
4. How does the application process work?
Lean, fast, transparent – and tiered by profile. For entry-level roles (internship, working student, entry-level), two interviews and a short work sample are usually sufficient; experienced roles are somewhat more extensive. For selected senior roles, we are considering incorporating a joint workday in the future so that both sides can get to know each other better. Always applies: scheduled appointments, swift decision-making, substantial feedback – regardless of the outcome.
5. How does variable compensation work?
Linked to performance quarterly, qualitatively assessed. The scale increases with the level: up to 20% Associate, 27.5% Manager, 35% Senior Manager, 42.5% Director, 50% VP. The expected value with good performance – you meet the requirements, set your own accents, pass the keeper test – is around 50% of the maximum; the maximum bonus is not the norm. The focus is on a holistic assessment by your manager: ownership, quality, learning curve, collaboration, impact.
6. How do I develop – what career paths are there?
Two active paths: Mastery (technical depth, expert career) and Pioneer (leadership, management). You choose the direction after onboarding, usually in years 1-3. Entry-level is not a special path, but the early part of the same journey – from working student or intern to Associate, for the best without a new application process.
7. Team, culture, vacation?
A shared lunch is an open daily offer – not mandatory; whoever wants to join does, anyone can eat anytime. In addition, dinners, social events, and offsites at regular intervals – not as a mandatory program, but because a good team also shares time outside of work. Benefits: well-thought-out and substantial, not symbolic. Vacation: 28 days.
8. I know someone – is there a referral bonus?
Yes – €2,500 for every successfully filled position (no internships). A brief context is enough: who you are thinking of, for which role, why. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it should be substantial.
