Job description

As an employee of SOS-Kinderdorf, you will accompany children and young people into an independent life and advocate for their rights and interests!

Our emergency care staff are on standby when rapid assistance is required. In the city of Salzburg, the Flachgau, Pongau, and the Pinzgau, they have already provided a safe place and a temporary home for infants and children in acute crisis situations, in accordance with the instructions of the State of Salzburg.

Your tasks
  • Lovingly welcoming a child (appointment 15 hours/week) and possibly a second child (appointment 30 hours/week) into the family for a limited period
  • Accompanying and caring for the child
  • Documenting the care process
  • Support from social educators (cooperation with the child's family, professional guidance of the BPP during the intake – care – farewell)

  • Residence in the federal state of Salzburg
  • Love and joy in working with children
  • Positive review of suitability as a caregiver through the child and youth welfare department
  • A completed or ongoing care education
  • Desirably, professional experience in working with children
  • Stability, endurance, reflection ability, and physical and psychological resilience
What you can expect

In this position, you can expect an interesting and challenging task in our team, regular further education, supervision, peer consultation, and continuous exchange with the child and youth welfare department and the team.

This is a 24/7 care in your own family environment and as part of this task, you will be employed as an SOS family educator for 15 hours/week by SOS-Kinderdorf.

The collective agreement monthly gross salary (as of 01.04.2026) for 15 weekly hours is between € 1,290.41 and € 1,564.12. Previous work experience will be taken into account for an exact calculation.

The appointment will be continuous, even if you are not currently caring for a child.

You will also receive increased child care allowance (monthly average € 1,545.90 per child during the care period) from the child and youth welfare department.
