Environmental Analytics and Wastewater Monitoring

As a municipal utility, the Hannover City Wastewater Management has been making a clear contribution to environmental and climate protection for more than 125 years. With over 2,500 kilometers of sewer network and two large wastewater treatment plants, the municipal utility treats the wastewater of around 750,000 people in Hannover and the region and returns it to nature. The Monitoring Tasks department stands for the transfer of scientific findings into the practice of municipal wastewater treatment, thus making a central contribution to environmental and water protection. An experienced and convincing leader is sought for the management of this department.

Tasks

• Management of the Monitoring Tasks department with its three sub-departments: Laboratory, Indirect Dischargers, and Property Drainage, and a total of 45 employees
• Technical advice and support for the sub-departments on complex environmental issues
• Conducting complex scientific analytical activities and developing concepts for sampling and analytical measures
• Representing the department in scientific and technical committees and participating in supra-regional working groups
• Direct reporting line to the management of the Hannover Wastewater Management

Qualifications

• Completed university degree, preferably in an engineering discipline related to wastewater monitoring/environmental analytics, or the qualification for career group 2, second entry level, in the field of Technical Services
• Several years of professional and management experience, ideally acquired in a wastewater utility
• Good knowledge of environmental/wastewater issues and good legal knowledge
• Leadership, gender, and diversity competence
• Analytical thinking as well as strategic work and the ability to apply structuring and planning methods
• Strong communication and assertiveness skills as well as a confident demeanor towards internal and external interfaces
• Proficient German language skills, both written and spoken
