What you will do

Working at the Ministry of Defence means working in a unique Primary Healthcare organization where care and organization are closely intertwined. We strive for optimal medical support for our military personnel through prevention, direct care, and targeted advice. As part of our broad and skilled multidisciplinary team with specialists ranging from pharmacists to physiotherapists, you will directly contribute to the care standard of the armed forces.

What will you do?
At the Ministry of Defence, as an occupational physician within the EGB, you have a versatile and impactful role:
• You contribute to the reintegration of absent employees resulting from the Wet verbetering Poortwachter (Improvement of Labour Force Participation Act) and the internal Defence reintegration policy.
• You provide advice on optimizing employee employability from a medical perspective.
• You conduct preventive, occupational health, and absence consultations.
• You act as a medical expert in socio-medical teams.
• You support colleagues and monitor the quality within the primary healthcare organization in the field of occupational health.
• You work in task delegation with a practice assistant occupational physician (POB).
• You report and advise line management on the employability and employability limitations of employees.
• You provide advice on preventing work-related complaints and identify potential occupational diseases.

The beauty of your job? It's that at Defence, as an occupational physician, you are truly taken seriously. We strive for quality and rely on your knowledge and expertise in medical care. As an occupational physician at Defence, you really make a difference. That brings satisfaction and enjoyment to your work.

Who are we?
The Health Center is part of the Primary Healthcare Organization (EGB). The EGB aims to provide primary integrated healthcare to military personnel, provide absence management (to military and civilian personnel of our care population), and deliver pharmaceutical services and expertise from the Central Military Pharmacy.
Health Center Woensdrecht Air Base, together with Health Center Roosendaal, forms one medical care team. You will work closely with, among others, (military) general practitioners, general military physicians, physiotherapists, practice assistant occupational physicians, and practice assistants.

Where will you work:
Approximately 2800 military personnel and civilian employees work at our Woensdrecht Air Base. Woensdrecht Air Base is the home base of the Air Support Command. The ASC provides training, logistics, and maintenance for the entire Air Force. A Security Unit and a Brigade of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee also fall under our care population. You will also be deployed as an occupational physician for the care population of the Roosendaal barracks.

What we ask

You have a university degree in general medicine (WO Geneeskunde) and have completed specialization as an occupational physician.
• You are registered in the BIG register as an occupational health physician.
• As an experienced occupational physician, you know very well what you are talking about. You see yourself as a specialist in your field and convey this to your colleagues. Even when there is resistance, you convince them with your seniority. A 'doctor' who locks themselves away in a consultation room? That is certainly not you.
• You possess good communication and coaching skills and hold a driving license.
• You have experience in supervising a practice assistant occupational physician with whom you work closely through task delegation.

What you get

Salary levelCivil servant scale IBBAD 12 - Civil servant scale IBBAD 12Salary descriptionSalary according to a work schedule of 38 hours per week.Monthly salary€6,244.00 - €8,067.00EmploymentTemporary appointmentContract duration24 monthsMinimum number of hours per week38Maximum number of hours per week38

What else we offer

The mentioned salary is based on a full workweek of 38 hours, excluding a physician's allowance.

As an employee at Defence, you have access to an individual choice budget (IKB) each month. This IKB is composed of your holiday allowance and year-end bonus. This amounts to 16.33% of your gross salary.
You can save the IKB, have it paid out, or spend it. The latter can be on mobility (bicycle or e-bike), IT equipment (laptop, etc.), union contributions, or extra vacation days. The IKB makes a large part of your salary directly usable for what is truly important to you.

Details

• We are deployable worldwide for peace and security. A diversity of ways of thinking, perspectives, and qualities contributes to achieving our mission: "Protecting what is dear to us." For this, we are explicitly looking for new colleagues who contribute to diversity within Defence.
• Defence is also committed to employing individuals who fall under the target group of the Employment Opportunities Act. If you are registered in the target group register, we also invite you to apply!
• Your application documents will be destroyed no later than three months after the completion of the selection procedure. This period is longer than the standard period prescribed by the General Data Protection Regulation. This longer period is necessary in case an objection and/or appeal procedure is initiated by an internal candidate.

Organization name

Ministry of Defence

Organization description

Defence is committed to the interests, welfare, and freedom of the Netherlands. We are active daily, both domestically and internationally. Our global deployment strengthens international cooperation and ensures that people can develop freely. Now and in the future.

Approximately 79,000 people work directly and indirectly for peace and security at the Ministry of Defence. The ministry consists of the Materiel & IT Command (COMMIT), the Staff Directorate (the department), the Royal Netherlands Navy, the Royal Netherlands Army, the Royal Netherlands Air Force, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, and the Defence Support Command (DOSCO).

Defence is one of the largest employers in the Netherlands and exhibits similarities to a large corporation. The operational commands (sea, land, and air forces), the Marechaussee, DOSCO, and COMMIT resemble operating companies.

The armed forces protect what is dear to us. The Defence Support Command (DOSCO) makes an essential contribution to this. With over 10,000 employees, we support the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marechaussee anytime and anywhere. We do this at defence locations, during daily work, during exercises, and during deployments. We ensure that the armed forces have a competitive edge in combat!

At DOSCO, you contribute to a strong Defence organization. We are one of the most versatile parts of Defence. From catering to security, from real estate to logistics, from facilities to procurement, from HR to medical care, behind every soldier is a team of professionals providing 24-hour support. You don't have to be a soldier to work at DOSCO. At DOSCO, it's all about craftsmanship, reliability, and connection.

Department description

The Defence Healthcare Organization (DGO) is one of the four divisions of the Defence Support Command. The DGO supports the operational commands and contributes to the employability of military personnel. For this, we offer first and second-line care, training, and logistical support. We also support the care (including preparations and aftercare) that the operational commands provide during deployments.

The Primary Healthcare Organization (EGB) is responsible for providing integrated care to military personnel under non-operational conditions. This means we offer preventive, curative, and parts of occupational health care. At our health centers, military personnel can make appointments with doctors (general practitioners, occupational physicians, and AMA), physiotherapists, POH, POH GGZ, occupational health nurses, and medical assistants.
