Backend Developer (m/w/d)

We are smartmicro, the leading specialist for high-performance automotive and traffic radar as well as radar/camera hybrid sensor technology. We design, develop, and manufacture high-tech sensors for autonomous driving, intelligent traffic infrastructure, and Smart Cities. As an extension to our team, we are looking for an experienced software/Python backend developer.

Your Tasks

• You will design and develop REST-API interfaces for radar sensors and control units.
• As the responsible person for the backend architecture, you will ensure high code quality through documentation.
• You are responsible for implementing and integrating APIs in a microservices environment.
• You will work closely with UX experts and embedded engineers to ensure seamless integration of customer requirements.

Your Strengths

• Completed studies in computer science or equivalent qualification.
• Multiple years of practical experience in software development with solid knowledge of Python 3, FastAPI, and Pytest.
• Experience with technologies such as Pydantic, SQLAlchemy, Alembic migrations, and Ubuntu Linux; knowledge of REST APIs and basic UI concepts is advantageous.
• Knowledge of messaging protocols like MQTT is useful.
• Fundamental experience with containerization using Docker, including creating optimized images and working with Docker Compose.
• Safe handling of version control systems (Git), SQL databases, web servers (e.g., NGINX), and configuration management tools.
• Fundamental understanding of quality assurance practices, including writing unit tests and participating in integration tests.
• Engagement for clean, maintainable code as well as experience with Lint tools, CI pipelines, and test automation tools.
• Able to work independently in agile environments like Scrum.
• Safe handling of physical devices for software development and testing.
