Backend Engineer / Verification Platform

We develop a decentralized infrastructure that enables long-term security and verifiability of digital content. Our goal is to provide institutions like archives, museums, memorials, and future societal actors with tools that enable them to reliably prove the authenticity of their digital materials.

To build a modular prototype for a six-month pilot project, we are looking for developers who can shape this architecture from the ground up and develop technical foundations for an open standard in the future.

Tasks

You will develop central components of our infrastructure, including a timestamping service, a verification service, and clearly defined API and CLI interfaces for use by archives, museums, and memorials. You will work with files and metadata, generate and verify hashes and signatures, and integrate existing cryptographic standards reliably into our system architecture.

You will design and implement services that are modularly built and contribute to an open standard for the security and verification of digital content in the long term. This includes defining technical workflows that take into account institutional requirements, such as exporting hashes, uploading files, connecting to existing archive systems, or using your interfaces in real working processes.

In the pilot project, you will work on building a complete and functional prototype, including a publicly accessible verification tool. You will document technical decisions, help develop an integration guide, and contribute to formulating initial standard elements for future international cooperation.

Qualification

You are proficient in at least one modern programming language and can develop robust backend or infrastructure components. A routine handling of Linux systems is part of your work, both when developing locally and operating services.

You have experience designing and implementing services, building clear API or CLI interfaces, and working with files, metadata, and structured workflows. You can correctly integrate existing cryptographic libraries and standards and understand the principles behind hashes, signatures, and verification processes without having to develop them yourself.
