At Octopus Heat Pumps, we are redefining the trade. Forget rigid processes and manual work. We are building a highly automated, AI-driven ecosystem. What you bring:
  • Backend Expertise: You have 4–6 years of experience in developing productive backend systems. Python is your native language – whether it's FastAPI, Django, or Flask doesn't matter.
  • API-First: You develop and operate REST APIs yourself and know what is important for scalable interfaces, authentication (OAuth 2.0, JWT), and integrations.
  • Integrations: You have experience connecting external systems, know webhooks, retry logic, and how robust integrations function reliably even in the event of errors.
  • Frontend Understanding: You can develop React or Next.js interfaces against your own APIs and enjoy working where the product needs it most.
  • AI-Native: AI-driven development is part of your everyday life. You use tools like Claude or Copilot productively and take responsibility for the generated code.
  • Broad Engineering Mindset: You feel comfortable in different systems, quickly get acquainted with existing codebases, and are not afraid to take responsibility for new topics.
  • Ownership: You work independently, proactively address ambiguities, and prefer to ask the right question rather than make assumptions.

  • Infrastructure: Docker, GitHub, GitHub Actions, AWS, Vercel, Hetzner
  • Auth: OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, Okta

    What will you work on?
  • Customer Portal: You will continuously develop the customer portal for our heat pump customers and ensure a first-class user experience.
  • Integrations: You will connect new systems and gradually replace existing third-party systems.
  • Backend Services: You will develop and operate independent services and APIs that sustainably expand our product.
  • Salesforce Connectivity: You will work on integrations around Salesforce and help to technically map our business processes optimally.
  • Engineering Excellence: You will help build our observability and modern CI/CD processes, actively shaping our engineering platform.

  • Professional Level: An annual salary between €68,000 and €72,000 gross awaits you – fitting for a Professional level with a lot of personal responsibility.
