Backend Engineer - Agentic AI (m/f/d)

getpress is developing its own AI agent platform (LangGraph, PostgreSQL, Next.js) for the PR industry

The service market, from legal to consulting to agencies, is facing the greatest transformation in history. At the same time, the multi-billion dollar PR market is becoming increasingly important in the age of AI visibility. getpress, one of the fastest-growing PR agencies in Germany (>40 people, clients like Trivago, Komoot, Fonio AI, or AutoScout24), has decided to lead this change rather than wait. We are building the PR Company of the future: no longer just a service company, but a Service-as-a-Software company.

Our AI team has been in existence for 4 months now, currently consisting of one developer, one product manager, and our Head of AI. The basic architecture is in place, and initial parts of our PR platform and multi-agent system are running productively. Now, you are missing – the person who, as a Backend Engineer, will own and jointly redefine the technical foundation, along with our second developer, of how the PR of the future works.

• PR Platform: Full-stack development of the platform that will become the operating system of the PR agency in 2027. Close to the users, in rapid development cycles, and where your decisions set the course.

• AI Agents: Building an agent system that redefines the PR value chain end-to-end. You will build the agents that our consultants work with daily, including self-learning loops and multi-agent orchestration.

• System Architecture: Co-designing the system architecture, including workflows, data model, interfaces, compliance, and tech stack (currently predominantly PostgreSQL, Next.js, LangGraph, Docker).

• Data Management: Further developing the database architecture, including relational data and vector databases.

Must haves:

• > 3 years of experience in software development

• Tech Stack: TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, Docker, Git, LangGraph, Github

• Experience in developing backend systems with frameworks (fastAPI, springboot, nestJS, etc.) and common programming languages (e.g., Java, Typescript, Python).

• Experience with container-based and cloud-native architectures (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or similar).

• > 1 year of experience in developing AI agents and components such as memory, context engineering, retrieval, and orchestration using frameworks like Langchain, CrewAI, Langgraph, or similar.

• C1 German language skills are a plus, B2 level is sufficient (with the motivation to reach C1 within your first year of employment).

Nice to haves:

• Data Competence: Proficient in SQL, API design, schema design, query optimization.

• Experience with integrating AI/ML models into production systems, as well as understanding model behavior, performance, and limitations.

• Product Engineering: Experience in contextualizing requirements from a business and user perspective before technical implementation.

• Experience in Event-Driven Architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).

• Experience with Agentic Development (Claude Code, Codex, or similar).

• Architect of the Tech Layer: You are our technical expert and co-design how getpress thinks about and uses technology.

• AI in Application: You bring AI at the forefront of technical possibilities into our processes and strategy.

• Autonomy: You work directly with management, implement your own ideas, and define standards that we follow.
