Backend Developer

With growing data streams, stricter security requirements, and ever-increasing performance expectations, there is a need for developers who not only build but also understand system architecture, data quality, and code maintainability.

What will you do?

As a Backend Developer, you will work on the heart of the applications. You will develop, optimize, and maintain backend components used daily by hundreds to thousands of users. You will work at a client through GradeMatch, in the middle of a multidisciplinary team with frontend developers, testers, product owners, and architects.

How you make an impact

You will develop scalable and reliable backend functionality in .NET, C#, Java, or comparable stacks, always monitoring data quality, security, and performance — without shortcuts. You will build APIs, integrations, and services that enable systems to communicate smoothly. Additionally, you will review code, participate in testing, and prevent bugs before they become real problems. You will actively contribute to architectural choices and the technical roadmap. Finally, you will ensure that software is deployed cleanly and remains stable.

Hard skills

• Completed HBO/WO education, preferably in Computer Science or Business Informatics

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Backend Developer

• Experience with one or more of these backend technologies: .NET, C#, Java, SQL / NoSQL

• Basic knowledge of frontend technologies: HTML, CSS, Typescript/Javascript

• You are proficient in Dutch and English

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, or Kubernetes

• Knowledge of microservices or event-driven architecture

• Experience with code quality tooling (SonarQube etc.)

• Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
