AWS DevOps Engineer

MICO Software develops and operates infrastructure for an ePaper platform — a scalable solution, with which leading German publishers publish their digital editions. From automated processing of uploaded publication materials to content management to delivery to reader apps and web frontends: We deliver the entire cloud infrastructure and ensure reliability, security, and scalability.

We are looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer (m/w/d) in part-time (20 hours/week), who will further develop, operate, and secure our AWS infrastructure — in close cooperation with our development team.

Aufgaben

• Infrastructure as Code: Further development and maintenance of our Terraform modules and multi-tenant stacks (VPC, ECS Fargate, Aurora PostgreSQL, S3, CloudFront, Lambda, IAM, AWS Backup)
• Betrieb & Zuverlässigkeit: Monitoring, alarmization, incident response, and maintenance of operational runbooks (Backup/Restore, Secret Rotation, Aurora Cutover)
• CI/CD: Expansion of GitHub Actions pipelines (OIDC-authentication, ECR-deploys, Terraform plan/apply, DB-migrations)
• Multi-Tenant-Betrieb: Onboarding new publishing clients, isolation, and scaling of tenant stacks
• Sicherheit: IAM-least-privilege, KMS, WAF, Secrets Manager, TLS/DNS configuration including customer domain onboarding
• Event-driven pipelines: Operation of the ETL chain (S3 → SQS → ECS) for PDF processing and preview generation
• Zusammenarbeit: Close coordination with application development (Payload CMS, Node.js/Lambda services, reader apps)

Qualifikation

Must-haves

• 5+ years of professional experience in the field of Cloud/DevOps, including substantial experience with AWS
• Very good knowledge of Terraform (modularization, remote state, multi-environment setups)
• Experience with container orchestration (ECS/Fargate or comparable) and Docker
• Safe handling of CI/CD (GitHub Actions or comparable tools)
• Knowledge in network & security on AWS (VPC, Security Groups, IAM, ACM, WAF)
• Experience with relational databases in the cloud context (RDS/Aurora)
• German at least level B2 — for coordination with customers and in the team
• Good English skills for technical documentation
• Independent, structured working style and pleasure in operational responsibility in a small, agile team

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures
• Knowledge in CloudFront, Route 53, S3 Event Notifications, SQS/SNS
• Experience with AWS Backup, Disaster Recovery, and Restore procedures
• Scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Node.js) for automation and runbooks
• Contact points with media/publishing environment or content platforms
• Experience with Observability (CloudWatch, alarmization, metrics)
