Openjobmetis S.p.A. – Divisione Permanent Placement, is searching for an important international law firm, with headquarters in Rome and an office in Palermo, for a Paralegal / Junior Lawyer with knowledge of the English language to be placed at the Palermo office.


Position

The Firm specializes in real estate, tax, immigration, and corporate law, with a strong international focus. It assists private individuals, families, and foreign companies interested in investing, moving, purchasing real estate, or starting business activities in Italy, offering a complete and integrated legal service.

Position Description

The resource will be placed at the Palermo office and will work closely with the Firm's lawyers, providing legal and operational support to international clients, with a particular focus on Italian immigration and citizenship practices.

The position is aimed at both recent Law graduates and junior lawyers at the beginning of their professional careers, interested in developing skills in an international legal context.

The selected person will be involved in legal research and analysis activities, drafting and reviewing documents, preparing and managing client files, assisting with immigration and citizenship procedures, and coordinating with clients, public authorities, consulates, and external professionals.

On-the-job training and constant mentoring by the Firm's lawyers are provided.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation, drafting, and review of immigration and citizenship applications, supporting documentation, declarations, and legal documents in Italian and English.
  • Conduct legal research on Italian immigration law, citizenship, residency requirements, and administrative procedures.
  • Support the management of cases related to visas, residence permits, permanent residency, and Italian citizenship.
  • Assist with citizenship procedures for descent, marriage, and residency, including preliminary verification of documentation and eligibility requirements.
  • Prepare communications with clients, memos, opinions, checklists, and informational notes, primarily in English.
  • Participate in meetings and calls with international clients, supporting them in understanding procedures, documentary requirements, and subsequent steps.
  • Coordinate with Consulates, Municipalities, Prefectures, Police Headquarters, and other public authorities, as well as with translators and external professionals involved in the cases.
  • Monitor the progress of cases, deadlines, appointments, and documentary requirements, ensuring that files are complete, accurate, and constantly updated.
  • Support the collection, verification, and organization of civil status documents, certificates, apostilles, legalizations, and certified translations.
  • Ensure compliance with the Firm's professional standards, ethical obligations, and confidentiality requirements.


Requirements

  • Law Degree obtained from an Italian or European university.
  • Both recent graduates and junior lawyers are positively evaluated; prior professional experience is not necessarily required.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional foreign languages is a plus.
  • Solid legal research, analysis, and drafting skills.
  • Concrete interest in immigration law, Italian citizenship, and international legal issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong customer orientation.
  • Precision, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and, at the same time, collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Availability to work in person at the Palermo office.
