Avionic System Engineer

Role Mission

The resource, as an Avionic System Engineer, will be the technical point of reference for avionics design at the subsystem level. They will be responsible for defining the architecture, budgets, and data interfaces, as well as configuring communication protocols and developing the FDIR concept.

They will also contribute to defining the input specifications for avionics units (HW, SW, and Firmware), with a particular focus on the ASW baseline of the on-board computer. In subsequent phases, they may play a key role in both the procurement process and the development, integration, and verification of avionics solutions, also supporting testing activities throughout all project phases.



Main Responsibilities

  • Analysis of system-level specifications
  • Definition of avionics subsystem specifications
  • Design of the avionics architecture and definition of associated budgets
  • Definition of data interfaces and data budgets
  • Selection and configuration of communication protocols
  • Definition of the FDIR concept and architecture
  • Drafting specifications for avionics units (with a focus on ASW for OBC)
  • Support for procurement (SoW, technical meetings, documentation review)
  • Support for development (development plans, technical coordination, documentation review)
  • Support for system integration and verification activities (AIV/AIT)
  • Definition of test specifications, participation in tests, and review of reports
  • Support for operational activities and definition of mission operations


Required Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of space segment DDV and AIV processes according to ECSS standards
  • Knowledge of avionics architecture (plus familiarity with SAVOIR)
  • Knowledge of FDIR concept and architecture (plus SAVOIR FDIR handbook)
  • Knowledge of data interfaces and protocols (CAN/CANopen, SpaceWire, SpaceFibre, HSSL, MIL-STD-1553, CCSDS, TM/TC, PUS, CFDP)
  • Knowledge of ASW architecture for multicore on-board computers
  • Basic knowledge of AOCS units (magnetometers, star trackers, reaction wheels, etc.)
  • Knowledge of HW/SW architectures of OBC, TM/TC, and mass memory
  • Familiarity with testing environments and tools
