Automotive Technician/Mechanic

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Discuss problems with vehicle operators to discover faults.
  • Diagnosing, servicing, and repairing vehicles in compliance with manufacturer’s guidelines and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, tune-ups, checking fluid levels, and rotating tyres.
  • Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components such as transmissions, suspensions, steering, brakes etc. to diagnose issues accurately.
  • Repair or replace broken, worn, or dysfunctional parts such as brake pads, wheel bearings etc. and test and reassemble components.
  • Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition, and electronic fuel injection.
  • Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise motorists on good vehicle use.
  • Re-lines and adjusts brakes and perform wheel alignments.
  • Dismantles engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, or other components and checks parts.
  • Test and re-adjust to ensure repairs and maintenance are effective using testing equipment or computers before handing over to the Client.
  • Dealing with customers on a day-to-day basis
  • Performing duties in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job.
  • Keep logs on work and issues and ensure vehicles are in roadworthy order.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good condition.
  • Explain to clients their automotive problems and the repairs done on their vehicles.

Qualification and experiences

  • Minimum Certificate III qualification in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology is required.
  • At least one years of experience in a similar role is required.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated individual.
  • Friendly, positive & approachable attitude.
  • Adherence to OH&S Regulations.
