Automation Engineer/Maintenance Technician
Job description
As an Automation Engineer/Maintenance Technician, you will be part of a high-tech production environment in the Roeselare region, where you will play a key role in ensuring one department within the machine park runs optimally. You are the first technical point of contact for this installation and combine analytical insight with a hands-on approach to resolve breakdowns quickly and effectively.
In this role, you work in day shifts and have a lot of autonomy, while also receiving the right technical support when needed. You work in a modern, highly automated environment where minimizing downtime is paramount and where you switch daily between interventions, adjustments, preventive maintenance, and technical follow-up.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Locating, analyzing, and resolving electrical and mechanical faults on modern production machines.
- Performing technical interventions to limit downtime and monitor the continuity of the production process.
- Setting up, adjusting, and fine-tuning machines within your assigned department.
- Reading, interpreting, and applying electrical schematics and technical plans.
- Working with and having insight into PLC systems, frequency converters, servo control, network and bus systems.
- Detecting and resolving problems with AC/DC motors, sensors, safety relays, and related components.
- Also recognizing and helping to resolve hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
- Following up on daily actions, such as lubrication plans, visual inspections, and preparing planned interventions.
- Maintaining technical documentation correctly and clearly reporting findings to the technical manager.
- Thoroughly mastering the operation, control, and adjustment of the installations after your onboarding period.
Profile
For this position, we are looking for a technically strong candidate who ideally already has some experience within a manufacturing company and has a strong affinity with industrial automation and maintenance technology. You don't need to know everything perfectly yet, but you must have a sufficient foundation to quickly work independently in a complex production environment.
Your profile:
- Bachelor's thinking level in electromechanics, electrical engineering, or an equivalent technical background built up through experience.
- Experience within a production or industrial environment is a significant added value.
- Good knowledge of PLC systems: ability to understand, recognize, and logically analyze PLC structures.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical faults, with insight into cause-and-effect.
- Knowledge of AC/DC motors, sensors, frequency converters, network and bus systems, and technical components such as diodes and capacitors.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical plans fluently.
- Basic knowledge or experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
- You work in a structured, organized manner with great attention to safety and quality.
- You can set priorities and remain calm in acute problems or unexpected breakdowns.
- You can work independently as well as collaborate smoothly with colleagues and external technical partners.
- Good knowledge of Dutch and/or English.
- Willingness to work in day shifts.
We are looking for someone who is curious, eager to learn technically, and draws energy from solving diverse challenges in a modern production environment.
