Automation Engineer

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Automation Engineer to join our client's team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing automation systems, with a primary focus on pneumatic systems. Experience in this field is crucial for the successful execution of this role. Responsibilities: * Lead the design and development of automation systems, with a specialization in pneumatic systems, from concept to implementation. * Utilize engineering principles, technical drawings, and specifications to create detailed designs. * Select and specify appropriate components such as actuators, valves, sensors, and control systems. * Develop and program PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems to control automation processes. * Conduct simulations and testing to ensure system functionality and reliability. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers, to ensure seamless integration. * Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of automation systems. * Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to automation equipment and systems. * Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. * Provide training and support to operations and maintenance personnel. Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field). * Proven experience in designing and implementing automation systems. * Strong knowledge of pneumatic systems, including design, components, and troubleshooting. * Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens). * Experience with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems. * Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP). * Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. * Good communication and teamwork skills. * Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. * Experience in the manufacturing industry is a plus.
