Job Summary

The Assistant Manager – Purchase is responsible for driving cost-effective procurement, developing a reliable supply base, and ensuring uninterrupted material availability to support smooth operations. The role requires strong commercial acumen, supplier management capability, inventory oversight, and data-driven decision-making. The position will support the organization in achieving YoY cost savings, improving vendor performance, and ensuring compliance with procurement processes and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement Strategy & Cost Optimization
  • Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives.

  • Achieve cost-reduction targets through structured negotiation and supplier consolidation.

  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, benchmarking, and spend analytics.

  • Forecast price and market trends to anticipate shifts in buyer–supplier dynamics.

2. Supplier/Vendor Management
  • Identify, evaluate, and partner with reliable vendors and manufacturers.

  • Build strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, service, and timely delivery.

  • Track and report key supplier performance metrics, escalating risks proactively.

3. Planning, Forecasting & Inventory Management
  • Monitor and forecast material requirements and levels of demand.

  • Determine order quantities and delivery schedules to ensure material availability.

  • Maintain constant visibility on stock levels to support effective inventory planning.

  • Track, measure, and improve forecast accuracy through corrective actions.

4. Operational Excellence & Reporting
  • Track, measure, and analyze purchase expenditures and procurement KPIs.

  • Produce reports, dashboards, and statistics on spending, savings, and vendor performance.

  • Use SAP, Excel and data management tools to support procurement governance and decision-making.

5. Compliance & Process Governance
  • Lead compliance audits of procurement processes to ensure adherence to standards.

  • Maintain accuracy and completeness in documentation for purchased goods and services.

  • Support digitalization initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency and visibility.

6. Team Leadership
  • Provide direction and motivation to the team to drive outcomes on

    • On-time and in-full (OTIF) delivery

    • Year-on-year cost saving

    • Inventory management

    • Supplier compliance and digitalization

Person Specification / Skills & Competencies Required:

Technical & Functional Skills:
  • 7–10 years of purchasing/procurement experience in manufacturing, textiles, home furnishings, furniture, or white goods appliances.

  • Hands-on experience with SAP, Excel and data management is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of vendor development, demand forecasting, inventory management, and category sourcing.

  • Expertise in negotiation, contracting, and supply base management.

Analytical & Behavioral Competencies
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving ability.

  • High proficiency in analytics and reporting tools; comfort working with numbers and data.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight timelines.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong ownership mindset with a drive for continuous improvement.
