Job Description Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity We are seeking an outstanding academic to join the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering as the HERA ( Heavy Engineering Research Association ) Associate Professor in Structural Steel. This is a unique opportunity to lead innovative research and teaching in structural steel design, with a focus on digital technologies, sustainability, and industry collaboration. As the HERA Associate Professor, you will: Lead a research programme focused on structural steel design, with an emphasis on digital technologies, sustainability, and industry collaboration. Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in structural steel design, incorporating digital technologies and industry perspectives. Collaborate with industry partners to develop innovative solutions for structural steel applications. Contribute to the development of the Department's research strategy and contribute to the growth of the HERA Centre. Engage in academic leadership roles within the Department, including mentoring and supervising students. Participate in departmental and faculty meetings, and engage in other activities as required. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Civil Engineering or a related field, with expertise in structural steel design and digital technologies. They will also have experience in teaching and research, and a strong track record of publishing in top-tier journals. The ability to communicate complex technical information effectively is essential.
