Assistant Manager (Volunteer Management), Community Relations

Job Summary This role supports Senior Management and the Head of Department in overseeing the planning and execution of the Community Relations team’s operations, with a focus on strengthening volunteer management, alongside fundraising, communications, and events, in line with the organisation’s strategic objectives. Working with the Head of Department, the role helps set the overall direction for the Community Relations team, strengthens systems and processes, and monitors staff performance and progress towards goals. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for managing a small team of volunteers and coordinators, providing guidance and support to ensure successful delivery of projects and events. This includes developing and implementing volunteer management strategies, coordinating logistics, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders. Key responsibilities include: • Developing and implementing volunteer management strategies in line with the organisation’s strategic objectives; • Coordinating logistics for events and projects, including venue selection, catering, and equipment rental; • Providing guidance and support to volunteers and coordinators, ensuring successful delivery of projects and events; • Monitoring staff performance and progress towards goals, providing feedback and coaching as needed; • Collaborating with the Head of Department to set the overall direction for the Community Relations team, strengthening systems and processes; • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including community groups, partners, and donors. The ideal candidate will have: • A degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, communications, non-profit management); • At least 3 years of experience in volunteer management or a related field; • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; • Excellent organisational and time management skills; • Familiarity with database software and ability to learn new systems quickly.
