About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our accounting department. This role is ideal for someone proactive, autonomous, and dynamic who wishes to contribute to the management of accounting operations and work closely with the Financial Controller to prepare financial statements and support continuous improvement processes.
Your Responsibilities
- Participate in the preparation and execution of month-end closings according to deadlines for the various entities in the group
- Perform monthly reconciliations of different general ledger accounts
- Prepare monthly adjusting journal entries (accruals, depreciation, prepaid expenses, liabilities, etc.) according to ASPE and company policies
- Reconcile intercompany accounts
- Maintain the fixed asset schedule
- Review monthly bank reconciliations
- Lead and supervise a team of three accounting technicians
- Produce monthly financial statements and assist with the consolidation process (validating and eliminating intercompany transactions)
- Prepare government filings
- Contribute to the year-end audit file preparation
- Participate in process improvements and the implementation of internal controls
- Perform any other tasks related to the proper functioning of the accounting and financial operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- CPA designation, an asset
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (intermediate level)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP, an asset
- Bilingual in French and English, spoken and written
