Job description
Some careers shine brighter than others.
If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
Your career opportunity
Partner with the Category Lead and Category Managers to shape and deliver sourcing strategy across the IT Telco & Networks category, while independently leading assigned sourcing initiatives and commercial activity, working closely with stakeholders across HSBC’s Technology function on a global, regional and local basis.
The role will help drive commercial value through cost optimisation, lifecycle value generation, demand management, supplier performance and innovation, while leading and supporting complex sourcing and negotiation activity in a dynamic, highly regulated environment.
What you’ll do
Partner with stakeholders to develop sourcing strategies, commercial approaches and negotiation plans for category initiatives.
Lead and support end-to-end sourcing activity, including requirements gathering, market analysis, supplier engagement, commercial evaluation, contract negotiation and internal approvals through to signature.
Build and maintain strong relationships with business, technology, finance, legal, risk and other key stakeholders across a complex global organisation.
Support the development and execution of sub-category strategies and project pipelines to deliver savings, improve commercial outcomes and manage demand effectively.
Use category and market insight to identify value opportunities, challenge demand, and recommend alternatives to existing specifications, solutions or supplier approaches.
Monitor supplier and market developments, including pricing movements, new offerings, concentration risk and broader market changes, to inform category strategy and sourcing decisions.
Apply sound commercial judgement and category expertise to support business outcomes throughout the procurement and category planning lifecycle.
Understand the dynamics of the supply base and how supplier relationships may interact with HSBC’s broader commercial position, including where suppliers are also bank clients.
Track compliance with buying channels and agreed procurement processes, and work with stakeholders to address issues and improve adherence where needed.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
Experience in IT sourcing
Proven experience managing complex sourcing projects
Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence across business functions and levels of seniority
Strong commercial acumen, including the ability to assess supplier proposals, identify value opportunities and manage risk
A good understanding of the financial services industry, including its regulatory environment, strategic priorities and key third-party risks
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, global and highly matrixed environment
