Assistant Accountant

The Company
My client is a well-established manufacturing business with operations across New Zealand. Located in Penrose, the business is conveniently situated close to the motorway and offers onsite parking. They are currently seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their team on a 3-month contract, with the flexibility to work from home up to two days per week.

The Role
In this role, you will be part of a team of six and report directly to the Financial Controller.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the Accounts Payable team with FX-related functions, working closely with Treasury and the wider Group.
• Assisting with hedging activities and related processes
• Supporting the Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) process, including process documentation and continuous improvement
• Preparing month-end accruals and journals
• Preparing and assisting with FBT returns
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations
• Managing fixed asset accounting, including capitalisation and depreciation

Your Profile
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Assistant Accountant with solid experience across core accounting functions. You will have a good understanding of the Purchase-to-Pay process, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with different teams. You will be proactive, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
