Asset Manager Electrical Engineering

A contractor wants to perform maintenance on a rectifier station while the timetable must continue. You will map out the risks, determine what is possible and what is not, and explain this clearly to the teams and stakeholders involved. As an asset manager for electrical engineering, you will ensure that installations continue to operate safely and are renewed on time.

What you will do

You are responsible for the management and development of the energy supply within the public transport network. You determine what is necessary to keep installations safe, reliable, and future-proof, and translate this into maintenance and investment plans.

In doing so, you will work closely with colleagues from operations, projects, and transport, as well as with external parties such as contractors, suppliers, and the municipality.

Specifically, this means:

• You develop maintenance and replacement strategies for electrical engineering installations.
• You make trade-offs based on risks, performance, costs, and legislation.
• You substantiate investment proposals and request budget from clients.
• You coordinate activities with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• You monitor progress, budget, and quality of maintenance activities.
• You advise projects and third parties on technical choices and risks.

You will work on current issues such as the replacement of rectifier stations, grid congestion, and further automation of installations.

Must-haves

• Asset Management and Decision Making
  You can make maintenance and investment decisions for technical installations. You substantiate these based on risk, performance, and costs, for example when determining whether an installation needs to be replaced or still maintained.
• Electrical Engineering Insight at HBO (Higher Professional Education) Level
  You understand how electrical engineering installations function and the impact of interventions. This allows you to estimate what a change means for the safety and availability of the system. In short; you are capable of bearing the Installation Responsibility and possess knowledge of high-voltage installations or relevant standards such as NEN3140, NEN3840, and NEN1010.
• Risk Analysis
  You identify technical and operational risks and translate them into concrete measures. For example, by explicitly stating the consequences for the timetable and safety during planned maintenance.
• Stakeholder Management
  You work effectively with various parties without formal authority. You know how to bring interests together and make choices discussable, for example with mechanics, project teams, suppliers, and the municipality.
• Communication Skills
  You translate technical information into clear advice for different target audiences. For example, by making complex risks understandable for management or external stakeholders so that decision-making can take place.

Nice to have

• Experience in a sector with complex technical assets, such as energy, infrastructure, or (tram)rail infrastructure.

• A salary between € 4,929 and € 6,819 gross per month based on 36 hours per week (Scale 11A). Classification based on education and experience.

Your Team

You will join the Asset Management Tram team, part of Rail Infrastructure within GVB. A close-knit group of about 15 colleagues: asset managers, area managers, maintenance engineers, and inspectors. Everyone brings their own expertise and easily reaches out to each other for coordination and to achieve results together. The atmosphere is informal and personal. Collaboration, results, and enjoyment go hand in hand here, with a healthy dose of humor.

In addition, you will work intensively with colleagues from the Project Bureau, Rail Materials, Transport, and the municipality of Amsterdam. Together, you continuously work on improving processes, and there is ample room to try out new working methods.
