Job description

We are thrilled to have been chosen to manage the Nelson City Council Open Space Contract! This marks an exciting new chapter in caring for Nelson’s beautiful parks and reserves, building on a strong legacy of excellence. If you’re passionate about continuing to make a positive impact on your community and contributing to the future of these cherished spaces, we’d love for you to join our team on a 3 month fixed term contract. About The Role: Our Asset Maintenance Operators are skilled all-rounder’s who take pride in their work, ensuring that our parks and reserves remain safe, clean and well-maintained. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct routine inspections of park infrastructure, including paths, bridges, playgrounds, and sports facilities to identify any maintenance or repair needs. • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as required, such as fixing fences, clearing drains, and repairing signs. • Assist with the planning and implementation of capital works projects, including preparing site plans, obtaining necessary permits, and coordinating with contractors. • Work collaboratively with other teams, including park rangers, arborists, and horticultural staff to ensure a holistic approach to park maintenance. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including local residents, community groups, and council representatives. • Provide excellent customer service to the public, responding promptly to queries and concerns. • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including photographs and detailed descriptions. • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to discussions on best practices, new initiatives, and ways to improve park maintenance.
