Job description

About Us

No energy transition without storage.

ju:niz Energy develops, builds, and operates grid-serving large-scale battery storage systems throughout Germany. Our facilities stabilize the power grid, create flexibility, and enable the further expansion of renewable energies. We invest in our battery storage projects and keep them in our own portfolio long-term.
As an Asset Architect, you will shape the digital architecture of our battery storage systems – from the initial planning to integration into our existing OT landscape. In doing so, you will ensure that automation, control, and data communication work together reliably and that our architecture can scale with each new project.

Your Tasks

  • You will develop the digital end-to-end architecture for new battery storage projects, creating the foundation for consistent, standardized asset integration.
  • You will integrate new assets into our existing OT landscape, considering the interaction of PLC, SCADA, energy management systems, and historians.
  • You will assume technical responsibility for the application of communication standards IEC 61850 and OPC UA in the asset architecture.
  • Together with suppliers and integrators, you will implement our architectural specifications, manage their technical contributions, and review the quality of the results.
  • You will further develop architectural templates and standardized connection concepts so that new assets can be integrated efficiently and according to uniform specifications.
  • In close coordination with the Digital OT Lead, the OT Cloud Expert, and the EMS and PLC Engineers, you will ensure that individual systems are merged into a consistent overall architecture.
  • You will contribute requirements for the digital asset architecture and its interfaces to technical supplier tenders.
  • You will document your architectural decisions clearly and keep technical concepts and system documentation up-to-date.

Your Profile

  • A degree in automation technology, electrical engineering, computer science, or a comparable qualification forms your technical foundation.
  • With several years of experience in the architecture of industrial automation or energy systems, you know how to plan and integrate complex systems in a structured manner.
  • You have a solid understanding of IEC 61850, OPC UA, as well as SCADA and energy management systems.
  • The technical management of suppliers and integrators, as well as the quality assurance of their services, are already part of your experience.
  • Ideally, you have knowledge of battery storage systems and their digital connection.
  • You combine conceptual strength with a structured way of working and a high degree of personal responsibility.
  • You communicate very confidently in German (at least C2) and English, and can clearly convey technical requirements and architectural decisions.

Why Us?

  • Room for Maneuver: You will shape the digital architecture of new systems and develop standards that will be used for future projects.
  • Long-Term Perspective: Since we keep our battery storage systems in our own portfolio, your architectural decisions will have an impact beyond the project phase.
  • Professional Exchange: You will work closely with our OT specialists, engineers, and external technology partners.
  • Contribution to the Energy Transition: Your work will create the digital foundation for the reliable operation of large-scale battery storage.
