Apprentice Technician
Job description
Summary of the apprentice technician opportunity:
A technician apprentice will improve their mechanical skills while acquiring new ones to perform cleanings, maintenance tasks, visual inspections, and disassembly of parts and accessories in a competent manner. This position will work under the direct supervision of a qualified service technician to ensure that all programmed work is performed safely and to the customer's satisfaction.
Duties:
- Perform quality repairs and minor maintenance on diesel engines/trucks according to manufacturer procedures.
- Help complete required documentation (e.g., repair information in work orders, inspection information for state and emissions) promptly.
- Assist in diagnosing vehicle failures by disassembling, repairing, and reassembling parts.
- Dedication and compliance with all company and industry safety standards.
- Inspect protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks.
- Read work orders, observe, and listen to vehicles in operation to determine failures and plan work procedures.
Work experience and qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
