API and Interface Developer (m/w/d) at Kölner Startup

As an agile, green startup and specialist in energy management and visualization software, we actively participate in shaping a sustainable, climate-neutral future. So it is our mission to make energy consumption management as simple as possible with intuitive, AI-driven software that will become second nature for everyone - whether companies or private households - and enable energy suppliers and corporate customers to reduce both energy consumption and CO2 footprint. We are making digitalization of the energy sector a real chance with our current team of around 35 talented colleagues and colleagues.

We develop our own API middleware for integrating and processing customer data. Our platform connects different systems and data sources and enables reliable and scalable integration into existing IT landscapes. Typically, we receive data over REST interfaces or MQTT streams, but also integrate custom APIs. Our middleware serves as the central integration layer to customer systems

Tasks

• Pflege und Weiterentwicklung unserer API-Middleware (Kotlin-basiert)
• Integration und Wartung von REST- und MQTT-Schnittstellen zur Verarbeitung von Kundendaten
• Entwicklung und Pflege von Konnektoren zu externen Kunden-APIs
• Analyse und Integration neuer Datenquellen und Schnittstellen
• Weiterentwicklung unserer Architektur im Bereich API-Integration und Datenverarbeitung
• Mitwirkung bei der Konzeption neuer Integrationsfeatures und Schnittstellenstandards

Future Development Projects:

You will actively work on the further development of our platform, including in the following areas:

• Integration industriellen Kommunikationsprotokolle über Gateways:

1. ModBus
2. MBus
3. weitere Feldbus- und Industrieprotokolle

• Aufbau einer erweiterten Integrationsplattform
• Entwicklung eines KI-gestützten Schnittstellenassistenten, der:

1. Kunden-APIs analysiert
2. Integrationsvorschläge generiert
3. die Einbindung neuer Schnittstellen automatisiert bzw. vereinfacht

Qualification

• You have a successfully completed degree in the field of computer science or equivalent training, with which you can convince us
• Experience in development with Kotlin, Linux, Git, Git-Forges (GitHub, GitLab etc.), TDD, RDBMS.
• Good knowledge of API design and integration (REST)
• Experience with messaging protocols like MQTT from an advantage
• Understanding of middleware architectures and system integration
• Experience with integrating external APIs
• Structured and solution-oriented working style
• Very good German and good English skills

Advantage:

• Knowledge of industrial protocols like ModBus, MBus, OPC-UA as well as gateways and edge collectors
• Experience in data integration or event streaming
• Python
• CI/CD
• Kubernetes (as user) and handling Helm Charts
