API and Interface Developer:in (m/w/d) in the Cologne Startup

As an agile, green startup and specialist for energy management and visualization software, we actively participate in shaping a sustainable, climate-neutral future. So it is our mission to make energy management so simple with intuitive, AI-driven software that it becomes a self-evidence for everyone - whether companies or private households - and energy suppliers and business customers can effectively reduce energy consumption and CO2 footprint. So we make the digitalization of the energy sector a real chance with our current team of around 35 talented colleagues and colleagues.

We develop our own API middleware for integrating and processing customer data. Our platform connects different systems and data sources and enables reliable and scalable integration into existing IT landscapes. Typically, we receive data via REST interfaces or MQTT streams, but we also integrate customer-specific APIs. Our middleware serves as the central integration layer to customer systems.

Tasks

• Maintenance and further development of our API middleware (based on Kotlin)
• Integration and maintenance of REST and MQTT interfaces for processing customer data
• Development and maintenance of connectors to external customer APIs
• Analysis and integration of new data sources and interfaces
• Further development of our architecture in the area of API integration and data processing
• Participation in the conception of new integration features and interface standards

Future development projects:

You will actively work on the further development of our platform, including in the following areas:

• Integration of industrial communication protocols via gateways:

1. ModBus
2. MBus
3. other fieldbus and industrial protocols

• Building an extended integration platform
• Development of a KI-based interface assistant that:

1. analyzes customer APIs
2. generates integration suggestions
3. automates or simplifies the integration of new interfaces

Qualification

• You have a successfully completed degree in the field of computer science or a comparable training, with which you can convince us
• Experience in development with Kotlin, Linux, Git, Git-Forges (GitHub, GitLab, etc.), TDD, RDBMS
• Good knowledge of API design and integration (REST)
• Experience with messaging protocols like MQTT is advantageous
• Understanding of middleware architectures and system integration
• Experience with integrating external APIs
• Structured and solution-oriented working style
• Very good German and good English skills

Advantageous:

• Knowledge of industrial protocols like ModBus, MBus, OPC-UA, and gateways and edge collectors
• Experience in data integration or event streaming
• Python
• CI/CD
• Kubernetes (as user) and handling Helm Charts
