Environmental and Social Risk Analyst

What are we looking for?
At BBVA, we are looking for an analytical professional with a strong interest in sustainability to join our Credit GRM team. Your role will be fundamental in integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria into the admission of corporate clients and operations. Main Responsibilities
- Ensure that climate and environmental risk factors are integrated into the admission process, validating the completeness and quality of relevant data in the Client Sustainability Toolkit.
- Verify the consistency of proposed client policies with sector frameworks, sustainability metrics, and alignment plans.
- Review compliance with the Environmental and Social Framework, acting as a liaison with the GRM CIB ESG Risk / Due Diligence team in the evaluation of clients, onboardings, and admission of operations.
- Lead the process of identifying relevant controversies in conjunction with the Due Diligence team.
- Participate in the implementation of tools (such as TRi, CRIS, and PACTA), contributing local expertise for parameterization and ensuring their consistent use.
- Conduct the monthly review and monitoring of financed emissions results (PCAF), supporting interpretation and error detection with the Head of ESG Reporting & Support.
- Represent the team in internal and external sector forums, promoting knowledge of physical risk and the impact of decarbonization in collaboration with Advisory, GCC, GSA, and GRM Climate Risk & Sustainability.
Position Challenges
The main challenge of this position is to achieve proper harmonization between commercial profitability objectives and strict compliance with climate standards, ensuring that all data and policies entered into measurement tools (such as PCAF and PACTA) are accurate for strategic decision-making.
Requirements
Knowledge and Experience
- Mandatory Knowledge:
- Solid knowledge in financial analysis functions.
- Database management and programming languages SQL and Python.
- Ability to work in the ADA technological environment.
- Autonomy in the use of Google Workspace office and collaborative tools.
- Languages: Native Spanish and Advanced English (C1 or high oral and written level).
- Desirable Knowledge:
- Training, certifications, or proven prior experience in the sustainability field.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate sectors with the highest exposure to climate transition risk.
- Education:
- University degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration and Management (ADE), Actuarial Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, International Relations, Environmental Sciences, or other related disciplines with a high analytical and quantitative component.
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience (preferably 3 years) in financial analysis functions.
